Hi Marc,
Not sure exactly what you are asking but I do plan to try your boards with the new tubes. I have them sitting on the bench already.

Just check if you have latest parts value sitting on my board (so same shematic) to see how is one board near the other on sound.

I have made several hybrids over the years. The tube stage being part of the power amp and some just ahead of the power amp , like a low gain preamp with a low gain power amp. Sound was quite nice I recall but don't remember it being 'spectacular'. Whatever that could mean !😉
I searched for the last one I made in 2005 ! Appears that I have removed the tubes and sockets as I was busy experimenting with some new preamps ! Maybe I should put it back and see how it sounds. I can't seem to remember how this one sounds. I do remember that I had to turn on the heaters of the tubes before powering up the ss part. 6922 tubes and Darlington TIP142/147 power devices.
Will have to deal with it after studying it again. Can't find the files on it.
There are a few components below the board. Don't remember why I added them. I did add a dc servo that hangs off on a separate board. You can just about see the wires on the top. Will go over it again to see what I had done and why.
There is another older one ,still intact, which is just an emitter follower stage with a triode strapped 6L6 input tube. That used to be good but all I remember is the clarity of the sound. Don't remember the bass or mids etc ! Maybe I should add a power supply and refresh my memory !

What post number is the schematic you speak of? I will happily check.

Hi Marc
I hope you soon has your tube IPS, and you will like it. 🙂
Please do not give up on the octal tube 6SN7 version, those are great tubes to (AKSA) wrote the same about and I know many people prefers that tube as a driver tube. Great sounding tube. I do have some and interested on that to.
I do not want to be pushy just I want to know if you still interested on that tube.🙂
Greetings Gabor

Hi Gaborela,
I don't give up, since i have several brand in stock. I want to build three tube IPS : Borys 12AU7 with 6sn7, Borys with ECC88 and this one from Valery with ECC88. That's why i redraw in single layout. It becomes to pricy made them all by board house when they are in 2 layer for in final have plenty empty board in stock (min 5u per order). So i want to be able to etch them at home but it's quite difficult to have pricise 2 layer board at home. I don't have yet double Uv insulator for exemple.
Marc
Why not using this.Dirt Cheap Dirty Boards
You get: 10 copies of each board, 2 layers, any color, 100% tested, free shipping. No bull...

I didn't know this compagny. For OPS i use 3PCB but as they oly shipp with DHL i had to pay 28$ more for taxes....so 90€ for 10u 180x77mm pcb....By dirty Cheap pcb 10x10cm that coast 25$ by air mail, quite a good price.....will examine that.

Nice to hear that amp works ok.
Just for safety do some scope tests with tubes, I am not sure how about the other types (the tolerances and differend ''mu''). I have updated a bit the OPS and now is dual layer. I was listening the 12AU7 version for past few days and must say that ECC88 version suits me way better.

I will try them side by side soon. I really like the 12AU7 version so I am interested to hear them in an A/B test. It may be that the individual tube impart a tonal signature. I haven't tried many different pairs yet to see if that changes the sound much.
I have to wonder what values would need to be changed to make the 6N1P tubes work. I would be nice to find that out. I have heard good things about them.
Hi Marc, That link only takes me to the top of the page. Can you tell be what post #?

Thanks Marc,
That's the same schematic I used for Peter's boards. I will make sure they are set up the same and see if there is any difference. Probably tomorrow. Today is my birthday so I am spending it with my wife.

Hi Marc,
I got a chance to play your boards through my Slewmonster OPS today. Wow, sounds awesome. I had it playing on +-70V rails and it is quite nice sounding. I didn't try it without C9 so I can't comment on that but it is very good sounding and stable. Offset drifts a bit but not too bad. I used 100v 10u caps so no issues with the higher voltages.

Thanks terry for reporting. So Board layout was not the reason of your poor sound quality feelings with 6nP&. Good to know.
Marc
Yes that tube is not a drop in replacement for the ECC88. The pinout is the same but it need something different in order to work. I would like to find a circuit that works with it as I now have quite a few of them.
I am going to try and set up an A/B setup using two pair of Slewmonster OPS so I can do a comparison between the ECC88 board and the 12AU7 board. I want to see if I can hear any difference between them. I have about 7 different Tube hybrids now. A couple have noticeable differences in sound. I'm not sure yet about these two.

Great job!! I am glad U like it.
Please tell me what tubes have you used, just to know which one are working fine.
Those 6Nxx tube markings are not straight forward for me. I need some time to remember it.
Thanks

Hi Peter,
The first tubes I tried were the 6N1P. Someone suggested them earlier on in the thread so I ordered some. They just don't work in this circuit. I just received the Electro Harmonix 6922 which I used in your ECC88 layout and these 6DJ8 SYLVANIA tubes that I used in Marc's layout. I tried both of them in your layout and they worked perfectly. I did need to make slight adjustments on the cathode bias and offset trimmer to fine tune them when I swapped them but that was probably unnecessary since they were so close. I think folks could swap out tubes and not notice at all if they didn't have a meter attached. I have kind a of a busy day ahead of me tomorrow so it may be evening before I get a chance to do any more listening. Thanks for another interesting design.

Terry,
Are you testing with a ECC88 tube?
These are the tubes I am using.
