My question to you is, do you disagree, do you know of different argument or point? That was their argument, did you read the article?

People used to appreciate foods much more in those days. In present day, there are some who act like spoiled brats when it comes to food. Those people need to live like our ancestors for a while and see what life is like for 99% time of human existence. Here's my thoughts on the vegan diet...
If you go back a few hundred years or so, way before globalisation the only food people had readily available to them came from the local surrounding areas. There is no way that anyone could survive healthily on a vegetarian diet let alone a vegan diet. There is no way that all of the essential non meat / non diary foods types would be available.
You sound like you are in Dire Straits!...the deliveries - we got to move some refrigerator, color TVs
I must confess that lately I'm using some seeds oil instead of pure fine extra ultra olive oil
- I mean, a mix, maybe 30 % in some cases 50 %.
Not the case for spinach or other leafy ...ehm, plants.
Those extrusions from the ground ( like cabbage, lettuce...) like to be only boiled ( just see the boil...) and then backed in a pan with garlic and chilies ( red dry ones).
Some like it to be simply mixed in a... mixer like pesto with lots of oil, with pasta.
Wow! It reminds me of the national ( international) contest for making pesto: the champion last year took about 35 seconds to transform a bunch of basil and pine nuts into "pesto"

There is a problem these days with what my dentist calls "grazing" where people sit all evening eating snacks. Not only bad for the teeth but bad for weight too.
Comfort eating is a problem with some people too.
My let down is chocolate. Once I star ta bar I have to finish it.
If I don't buy it in first place I dont miss it.
I have that problem with Maltesers. Remember when they were advertised as the chocolates with the less fattening centres? My let down is chocolate. Once I start a bar I have to finish it.
It may mean that the person is a mountain (isolated from the village below) dweller.I have a hard enough time with 15 never mind 150!
Never did like people much.
Edit....does that,mean I have a small brain?
No buts, it's got to be butter!Uhm, strange - flora ?!

Is everyone on this thread vegan or are some just here to troll? (I haven't read through the 133 pages... just curious).
FWIW, I've been vegan for the last 7 years. My wife and daughter are vegan too. Our cats and dog are not !
I think it is for about 4 people to kind of troll among themselves.. you'll see the same posters over and over and over
Welcome to the botanic jungle!you'll see the same posters over and over and over

haha.
If you look back at the *actual* diets of most people a few hundred years ago, you'll find their diets are mostly vegetarian. Meat a rare luxury and only at certain times of year. The rest of the time, vegetarian at least. Vegan perhaps, depending on what was available and then affordable. (remember how Samual Pepys buried his bit of parmesan to protect it from the fire of London in 1666, because it was so valuable and more of an investment than a food - the same things weren't available to the average person as they are today).
Whether they had a healthy diet or not is down to the social environment.
Here's an article about recent research into the diets of ancient egyptians: New study reveals ancient Egyptians were mostly vegetarian | Ancient Origins
In ancient cultures vegetarianism was much more common, except in nomadic populations, and eating meat was a development that occurred more recently.
vegetarian/vegan are often interchangable when talking about older history - you can't really tell what was available to the individual to be more specific.
The strong meat eating cultures we see today are very very recent in terms of human history.

Is that how you see anyone who is vegan? Spoiled brats for not just eating and apreciating what they're given?
That would be kind of contradictory on a DIY audio website - we're here because we have independent streaks of doing things for ourselves, our way!
Not just accepting what commercial gear they decide to sell us. And choosing our own way of life rather than just doing what others tell us we should, including our moral choices.
Haha: instead of going to the doctor next, evenharmonics, instead just stay ill and refuse all medical help - appreciate how our ancestors used to live rather than being a spoiled brat with modern healthcare

That depends on where and how far you look back. People ate what was locally available to them. More seafood along the coastlines, more vegetation where edible ones are available, more red meat where it was available.... etc.haha.

Further you look back, it's harder or impossible to find people's health records.Whether they had a healthy diet or not is down to the social environment.
That's if you omit hunter / gatherer period of human history. The strong meat eating cultures we see today are very very recent in terms of human history.
Don't forget, we are in the lounge of the forum where "A place to talk about almost anything but politics and religion" so that's really stretching it.Is that how you see anyone who is vegan? Spoiled brats for not just eating and apreciating what they're given?

Getting really deep there, eh?Not just accepting what commercial gear they decide to sell us. And choosing our own way of life rather than just doing what others tell us we should, including our moral choices.

If my neighbors live closer than 1/4 mile I do get a little edgy
