Veganism

Personally I try to avoid foods dependent on pesticides. Lettuce is a good example of a food that is almost impossible to commercially farm without systemic insecticides.

Hi,

Halas... if it was just lettuces... look at apples for instance as many fruits btw !🙁

Insecticides/Pesticides has the same root than GBH : productivity & margins. How to avoid Insecticides/Pesticides ? It seems very hard for most of us to eat without that crap. Dairy products as meat and eggs come from meat industrie which feed animals with GMOs vegetables developed to be glyphosate and/or pesticides resistant. IIRC Fisch farms also use a mix of organic + vegetable oils & proteins all over the world. So icecreams if not GBH have also bad things in the milk ( and the ton of sugar in an icecream wich is bad for your trygliceride level and futur diabetes). Pizza : the same from the cheese to the wheat flour and tomatoes ...

eating became a sport whatever the diet or wherever you live or pick & hunt :

pesticed can be occasionally in air and rains - so river, fields... Error - Cookies Turned Off - and mushrooms love to stock radiation from toxic clouds & & rains traveling after atomic centrals accidents. Welcome on Earth :sorry: ...

btw, asking myself : mushrooms and symbiots types as lichens are also eated by vegans or forbiden in their philosophy being nearer from animals in their way than vegetables ?

I was reading ( well, it was the usual video with phrases -so, I was watching...)
an article on the effects of the nuclear explosion at Chernobil.
After 30 years, the area is populated by animals only- mostly dogs, cats, rats etc. + 200 species of birds but also horses, bears.
The frogs and in general all the animals, exhibit a darker tone of skin respect to the same specie in the radiation-free area outside. Some insects are more subject to parasites.
The analisys ends with a strange end 😱
The effects of a medium nuclear explosion are less relevant than expected ( animals are resistant) and it surely is less damaging, respect to the natural wildlife, than the occupancy of the territory by humans

I see. Well, I'm sure alot if not everything has already been covered... but if there are still any open questions on this topic, I think I'm rather pretty well educated and would gladly answer (as opposed to electronics or physics!).

Greetings,
I jump on it, thank you.
What pills do you eat fot B12 VITAMINS and what is the measure for the quantity please?
Daily or weekly ?
Mushrooms, ok because no nerves so no animals exploitation ?

@picowallspeaker, sure, genes are attacked nd there are mutation, life is stupborn while the animals can also sooner die from cancers. Iirc, some wolwes and deer were followed and they die sooner... certainly from the food chain issues. You also can be sure mushrooms are skilly to drain radiation... But I don t know the half life time of radiation in the soil. Scientists must be very interested to observ mutations from all the vegetals and animals in Tchernobyl & Fukushima... Some olds and or poor people are going again in their contaminated house betting they will pass because the age first and not radiation issues. To be followed.
@itzikhephez, I m not sure it is trolling as Vegans seems a lot involved by phiolosophy and ethical style of life, then humans beings & ecology interactions between human beings perhaps also matter

Is everyone on this thread vegan or are some just here to troll? (I haven't read through the 133 pages... just curious).

FWIW, I've been vegan for the last 7 years. My wife and daughter are vegan too. Our cats and dog are not !

I think many have experimented with it. I was vegan three years.
But bottom line is its becoming very difficult to locate vegan (unadulterated) food. Also I've never really understood term 'troll'.

A troll is someone who intentionally stirs the pot......I’ve been accused of it many times, here’s a perfect example;

....people were born with canines and incisors, not sympathy.

But that’s just an example of course!

Before I started this thread I asked questions on vegan forums but it was counterproductive as perhaps you can imagine. I wanted to examine people's motivations and philosophy, that wasn't going to happen on a vegan forum I'm afraid. I'm grateful to this forum.

What I'm saying, is they probably considered me a troll, maybe I was to them, it's very difficult to have an objective discussion on what is for many an emotional subject.

Mushrooms, of course, belong to the distinct Kingdom of life which is labelled fungi and not to either the plant or animal Kingdoms.

Certain species of mushroom (e.g. oyster mushrooms) supplement their diet by attracting and feeding on nitrogen-rich prey, which includes small animals such as nematodes and small roundworms.

Because some types of mushroom act as a predator to small animal organisms, an argument arises on whether to consider them as vegan or not.
