So any sims (asc) that use Cordell models, need Cordell models in the SAME Folder.
I already had Cordell models in the LT Folder. That is obviously not sufficient.

Andrew... if you get stuck then ask. I'll have to just leave it for a while now.
I had problems getting LTSpice to run at first with W7. If yours does anything strange then I can tell you what to alter to get it to run correctly.

Yes, in the same folder. I tend to not put anything in the actual LTspice program files location but put all my sims in "documents" as you can see in the image.

Try this..
That limits at 13ma 🙂
I'll be back in a little while 🙂
It runs.
I have a blank 8ms screen !
Put the cursor over the output and click it.
Now I have a picture.
I thought it would all appear from the settings.
Each time I work through Cordell's instructions I find I have to go back to the beginning, as a result I have only got as far as his FFT explanations.

Mooly,
Maybe you can help me. Whenever I launch LTSpice directly from a folder by clicking on an .asc, I get an error message "There was a problem sending the command to the program". Yet, LTSpice launches withe the schematic but the error window remains. I tried a variety of things to no avail. (Windows 7.) Have you seen this?
Thanks,
Bela

Yes, there are a couple of problems with W7.
Easy one first. Clicking a .asc file brings up that message for me too. I always open files from within LTspice. Right click the empty workspace of LTSpice and select "open" and then browse for the file. I also save nothing to the LTC folder in program files but save all my work to a folder in documents. Its easier to keep tabs on everything doing that I find.
The other thing I had to do was alter the permissions for the LTC folder in program files. See the picture for how it should look.
Goto the folder 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LTC' (or the folder where LTSpice is installed).
Right-click on the folder 'LTC' and open properties.
On the tab Security press Edit
On permissions (the edit dialog) press Add.
Now add your name to the list.
When returned in the Permissions dialog select 'Full Control' (with your name high-lighted in the list of names)
It was FdW that put me on to that one... thanks 🙂

2kw, what transistor are you using as the vas?
If you are using something like a mje340/50 just beware that they "work" but are not well suited to vas applications. I have seen them produce bursts of oscillation near negative clipping.
It would be helpful to see where your oscillation is. Is it in the clipped region or as the output approaches clipping?

I'm using Win7 @ 64bit.
I just created a new Folder and saved the two files you posted into that empty Folder.
Then go to the Folder and click on asc.
LT loads and the software runs.
I did not change any permissions
I did not go to LT spice
I start up under my own name as administrator.

I have played with some values around the VAS.
Reduced the load to 4r0 then to 2r6, then to 2r.
I can now see the VAS protection oscillating as it comes out of protection.
I have tried a snubber and altered some of the resistors around the protection, but it always oscillates, even reducing the drive voltage to 1.347Vpk to give the equivalent of 50W into 8r0.
Any ideas on how to get a controlled release from protection without the oscillation?

Hi Andrew,
Yes, if I do that on W7 (x64 pro) then the sim runs but I have to click through a "the command could not be sent to the program" type error message. I'm the only one set up on the PC.
On Vista and there are no such issues.
One thing that is worth doing, even when you have LTSpice set up as Bob recommends with regard to auto file deletion of data, is occasionally typing .raw (dot raw) into the search run box at the bottom left and seeing if any files show. If you rename a simulation file (that perhaps you are working on and have altered) and re-save it under a new name while its open in LTSpice then the data doesn't delete automatically. And these files can be huge.

oscillation moved to the lower end of the output.
oscillation not cured.
But back to my question:
oscillation not cured.
But back to my question:
I can see 4 added diodes.
Is that all that is required?
