I've never seen this setup in any quasi amp before.

The Baxandal diode provides better symmetry of the quasi-complementary stage.
Simulates a P-N transition.
JLH used an additional 100 ohm shunt resistor and a 10-20nf capacitor.
Shaw used a powerful diode in the collector of the output transistor. Very effective on small signal without GNFB.
Pashinin used a diode-connected transistor.

Look closer. Baxandall diode is still there, but it's now called Steve's diode 🙂
Additional capacitor was making everything worse. Not needed here..

All different effects, equalizer, etc... runs on PC, no need for hardware.
