Understanding Pre-Condenser lens

In that case would it be best to pretty much permanently mount the precondenser in the position according to GG's drawing, and then adjust the lamp (and reflector) until you get the best (brightest/most even) lighting? Or will moving the lamp affect where the precondenser needs to be?

If you go on the equation and drawing from a couple of pages back and think about the pure theory of it, then yes, moving the pre condenser lense with relation to anything will effect the arc to condensor distance, as the resultant light cone from the condensor lense is a resultant effect of the focal point.

But... This is pure theory and as GG has said, it really comes down to a good starting point, then some playing around to get the best results..
