I only had my Yung for 14 months, in a music only system.
While watching a movie, the green on light powered up, then faded to. black.
Never to be heard from again.
Took it to 3 repair shops; all say they won't work on this brand.
I know someone who willl likely have a look... there is a queue thou, you'd likely have a bit of a wait.

Yung repair/replacement
Thanks, and thanks.
I will try parts express again, and one more local repair shop.
If there's no local chance, or help from parts express, I will ask to join the queue.

Hi siruis, what were the old drivers? I've build quite a few OB's. lately with saba green cones but there is a little bass missing, yours look like they could solve that problem..Newest baffles are constructed, just waiting on the paint to finish curing (oil based) before I lay them down to rear mount the drivers.
(Same drivers as the old OBs)
Poultrygeist, I think what you've done is the best way to make a speaker. Large woofers on an open baffle and a full range driver on top. Minimal crossover, maximum music.

Thanks Zilla,
Your informative posts and great builds got me started in OB.
Still love my Beta 12LTA over Alpha H-frames.
I also still love Beta 12LTA over Alpha H-frames. Problem is they look cluncky so what you have done with the dual Alpha's plus Lowther is turn clunk into clean.
How do the two woofers on open baffle compare to one in the H-frame?
Thanks!

I think dual Alphas on a flat baffle have more impact than single Alpha H-frames and when wired in parallel you have more amp choices.
Copied these from Zilla using the Tang Band W8-1808. Nice refined sound but sold the TB's after I tried Zilla's modded Beta 12LTA tops with phase plugs.

OK so I thought I saw them for $1300 each so even used it sounds expensive. They must sound, ummm, good? very good?
Lowthers are not for everyone. At their best, they can be extraordinarily good and in so-so applications, hardly worth the bother.
I'll tell you the ones I like:
Bud Purvine's "No Baffle" Lowther speakers a three (or four) way design that I find to be very nice sounding.
The next one was the Lowther OB speaker that Jon Ver Halen had at the last VSAC in Vancouver, Washington a few years back. Again very nice sounding!
If I had the money I would probably give them a shot, as I think I now understand how to run them, in order to get the best performance (to my taste!).
Best Regards,
TerryO

All finished and playing - yes they are close the back walls, but they sound pretty good to me. Pulling them out isn't much of an option at this point.
Great job on your build, sirius815!

Found a place locally, thanks.
Incidentally,a Parts Express tech told me via email- even after the warrantee expires, they will always fix their house brand Dayton Audio free of charge; the owner merely pays shipping costs.
