I've always wanted to hear those speakers, I'm curious about how much low end there is with the woofer sideways.
Those Gradient always intrigued me.
If dipole cancellation is anything to go by, I fail to see how these speakers could produce any bass in the listener position with woofers pointed sideways....

I have heard Gradient Revolution (not these models) and their bass is pretty good. Surprisingly good. I wish their mids were as good.

I just came across these pictures of a pair of open baffle, line array, eWave speakers I built a number of years ago and I don't think I posted them here as I was more active on AK at the time.

According to tests, there is no bass if the speakers are positioned as in the picture. You have to turn them almost 90 degrees.

That is certainly true if they are used in an open space, but in a room
maybe not so. Certainly people have heard them and buy them.

Yes, but try look at Gradients own userguide. It says that the more you toe in the speakers, the more bass you get. They show an angle of 45 degree toe in, and to get more bass you need to toe even more in.
They also show a alternative solution with speakers completely against back wall. Here the speakers are not toed in.
I make open baffles, and experimenting right now. Believe me, there is no bass in the null, even in a room.

Very true!
There will be bass in the room. However this is not a speaker for everyman.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I only have a basic mic and home theatre preamp to set bass levels, but I get good bass from an open baffle woofer stack in a corner, 3' out.

I really want to hear these...
And I will

If you want the sound of those 12 OBEMs to be real (megabuck) Analogue Vinyl High End, I would put those speakers still a bit closer to that turntable.
Oh no, stupid remark, the OB null is exactly where the tt is.

I posted , some time ago , some pictures of the Dragonfly OB set.
There has been some "evolution" of this system.
one of my design targets was : keep it cheap and possible upgrade later.
I'm making progress very slowly.
I'll do some pictures to explain 🙂

Hi Godzilla,
They are 12 inch.
My design targets were to do a diy kit version with a top of 400 euro for the hardware.
Did not succeed 🙂
about 450 ; so 4 x 12 inch , 2x 7 inch and 2x tweeter and XO parts.
Have to do my homeworks again.

Hi Zilla,
I also enjoy the Beta 12LTA's thanks to your posts which are always a source of inspiration. I found these light weight craft eggs from Michael's to be a great fit for the Beta's phase plugs.
I did add a total of four screws to each egg which better hold them in place magnetically. Most craft stores carry them in two sizes but the size closest to a real egg is the one that fits.
