TSSA V1.7 mosfet Current feedback amp module

There is a new version of the TSSA V1.7 on its way. But any one can easily upgrade there V1.7 by adding the capacitor mentioned below.

Basicly we have moved the trimmer to get space for larger trimmers with more "turns".

And we have added a capacitor of 470p 100V NP0/C0G between Drain and Source of U2 (EZW20N20) it removed some low level high frequence oscillation. This high frequency oscillation i have only seen on some amp. But add it just to be safe... IT will not kill the amp though..

I have a part number for this capacitor: SR151A471JAR

The legs should be as short as possible ~3 - 5mm.

It can be purchased at Farnell, Digikey, Mouser.

From RS-Online it is : SR151A471JTR (2.5mm wide instead of 5mm)

But any 470pF 5% >100VDC C0G/NP0 capacitor can be used ... also SMT 1206 case...

Film capacitor is not a good choice here because of the oscillation frequency of >10MHz.

Best regards

Sonny

Can you give us the test set up conditions and test points to trace that possible oscillation in our own builds?

Sonnya,
Been listening a lot lately on a couple different systems. It is a wonderful amp. An upgrade from the previous version without doubt. If I were to find something to point in comparison to my current favorites, it would be soundstage depth/space rendering. I do not know if this is a false concept, but in comparison to my current amp selection, I does not render depth and space as well. It's odd because it has excellent separation side to side and excellent imaging, like a good pentode tube amp. Still fast and clean with good control. Can get a little bloomy, but not in a bad way.. It kinda gives it an organic flavor. While these may sound like shortcomings, they are not. I believe this amp is at a level where we distinguish amps based on our individual preferences, like ice cream flavors. It is and will remain a permanent member of my collection. The only thing that might unsead it would be the bridged version or possibly the V4. This will only happen if they retain its nature. A truly splendid amp.

Great to hear, buzzforb. Thanks for sharing. I also wondered if the bridged version will retain the same quality / character. Maybe Sonnya or someone with the bridged version can eventually enlighten us. All the best, Per

Btw, my bias is set at .8A, for reference. It did improve overall sound, but it was not drastic. Final shot of inside.
Salad, have you ever played with organic polymer caps? Kinda like them in one application o have used them in.

I am working on them both. Actually i am going to add monitoring circuit to all amps. I will give you all an Update on the amps tomorrow .. But i am not going to give more data away In public forum , more than what is necessary ... I am only mailing them to trusted members... Has to be that Way...
I am okay... Thanks buzzforb ....
