Removing a jacket from a BG seams a stupid thing to do.
It will seam like any other.
Do that on normal caps, it's better.
And you keed the mystery, nobody knows what cap is that.😀

Hi,
Understandably so...but what about just skinning the PS caps?
Did that help any?
Anyone tried?
Cheers,😉
I'm usually reluctant to do this kind of mods. I don't always take the jackets off the caps. And when the caps are listed at $70 a pc. the reluctance is even bigger

I tied and I just skinned my $70 BGN 1000u (although reluctantly). When I compared the skinning effect ( 4.7u coupling BGN caps) I noticed more smooth and somehow less restricted sound (more efforless), but the difference was rather subtle, so I don't do it that often.
Hi,
Good..this proves only one thing: our brain/hearing/perception mechanism works in the same/similar way.
Sorry for the slashes...with all the controversy going on lately I'd better cover my behind, I reckoned.
I noticed the same on my gear and the beauty is it doesn't cost a dime.
Thanks,😉

Just wired in some 1000uf nichicon caps to the batt P/S.
Leads are about .75" from the power pins.Cant tell any difference.

Just wondering if anyone tries those motor run capacitors with gainclone? I know the tube guys like them for power supplies, and I am wondering if it will do anything for the gainclone. Maybe, +/- 24V SLA batteries connected to 12uf Motor run capacitors, with 0.1uf teflon bypass capacitors, for V+ and V-.

Try to reduce leads length😉
Well the caps are virgin? I might as well order more chips and try to do a proper test.Gonna go NIGC with this test.Still dont hear any diff.

OK again laying it out on CAD i can get the leads to within .183" of the chip pins.Thats using 1000uf 17mm x19mm 50V nichicon caps.

Peter, why don't you go further and do what DHTRob shows on his website?

Bartek
do you think that'll have a different effect from when he had them jacketed in the teflon block?
Yes,I think so.
Peter Daniel, where do you buy the brass cones you use in the gc at the beginning of thread? how much do these cost?

My assosiate sources them locally. They are pretty cheap. But personally, I don't know where he gets them from.

Too messy operation and unknown outcome😉

zygibajt, i'm sorry, you managed to reply before i deleted my mistake. i'd thought at first you were refering to the simple wood jacket, not the full recasing. my apologies.
your link is quite wonderful. perhaps it can be combined with this one?😉

Hey -- that's starting to look more like one of mine 🙂

Well, I started yesterday on another version of Patek amp. This time it gets quite small, even by GainCard standards, but I think it should still work fine. This picture seems to be pretty interesting (as the sun was pretty low). That's what big, class A amps are used for: stands😉
