Toroidal vs regular transformer punch?

Were the two transformers compared on the same amplifier, and did the transformers have the same winding impedances & turns ratios?

You want punch and level shifting bass then use a choke input power supply. Once you have heard this topology you wound go back to cap input.

Short answer: yes sir. Whereas the 175VA Hammond quickly becomes painfully hot the Antek can be on all day and just get warm enough to let you know it's on. The amp now stands up to unconscionable abuse like deep clipping the 35Hz bass opening of Little Feat's 'Long Distance Love' with a volt or two shift on the 380 VDC B+. For a low power SE I'm happy with that.
