Tony's latest traffo DIY build

hi tony thanks for the reply,
i cant find 1 3/4 center leg lamination, they have 3.8cm(1 1/2inch) center leg,so transformer height is 3.75inch. is this ok tony for my post no 198?

pls give the specs.

1.5 in centre leg x 3.75 inch stack....
VA = (1.5 x 3.75 x 5.58)^2 = 985.2 volt-amperes
primary current = 4.28A
primary turns = 1750/(1.5x3.75) = 311 turns #19 awg.
secondary turns = 42 turns #16 awg
you need 4 coils of 42 turns, in series to get 60-30-0-30-60.

hi tony is this correct or not?

total secondary voltage is 120v ac(60-30-ct-30-60), 10ampere. so 1200watts.(VA).

if i select 1444w, size lamination (3.8cm-10cm) in the below table.

turns per volt 1.1.
for 10ampere table shows 13awg so 120*1.1=132 turns for secondary.

for primary 1200w / 235=5.106ampere. so 235*1.1=258.5turns.
16awg 5.106ampere

hi tony,

nice work on those trafo... and you really help alot of diy'ers out there.
btw, im also a newbie and need some advice from you...

1. i have 2 trafo from a friend with the same size in Height of 72mm and
Width of 86mm.

2. but different thickness. the 1st has a thickness of 44mm and the other
is 41mm.

now, one of my friend says i can merge this trafo to be more effective.

is it possible?

thanks.
