I am not a power maniac person but...
I am a kind of bass maniac .. hehehehe.. why I like all your designs is amazing bass sonics they produce and the clear punch.. Dx and DHR Turbo handles woofers amazingly well... what's your secret ? 😉 If I'm good enough to understand your technology then ill design my own amp for my requirement. is there a difference between a full range amp and a bass amp ? some people say full range amps are not suitable as for sub woofer amps even with bass filters.. If i use a full range amp with a filter will that unnecessarily waste energy or what? I dont understand that.. I only understand the deep bass sonics.. even my body can feel it.. hahahahaha...
cheers !

I do not know .... really i imagine things as myths
the full range amplifier can be amplifying only basses without troubles... an input filter will be good...also you can tweak it to be even more stable as will not need to amplify high frequencies, and this turns it less stable because use high frequency devices and is adjusted in the edge...very near the threshold of unstability... also you can increase input condenser to reduce resistance to low frequencies to enter the amplifier, without have concerns about treble, as you will not use for treble.
Go to the Dx Triamp thread and you will read the advantages to filter the input..at least, what i think about that.
There,s no secret..this topologie sound...topologie sounds, and this one is the best for bass...you see, if our "papa", Master Nelson Pass, is doing bootstrapp..see his last design....the topologie and the boostrapp is what makes the difference...no secret at all.
But i do not know everything, i am still learning, also, i do not know why my Dx Blame ES is a little bit shy in the bass..and it uses bootstrapp too..maybe the hell CCS in the input... i will try to remove the CCS and change the circuit a little to see what happens. Sound is perfect, unbeatable, but has not the loosen crazy Dx Amplifier bass... has basses, and strong, but not that earthquake we have in the Dx Standard....the Blame has perfect sonics in the bass, mids and highs, also perfect sound stage, but bass is not that crazy thing we love.
We have to turn the bass knob to three hours to have the same bass...but treble is much better, and have not to turn any knob..also definition and quality is perfect, also focus..the best wide world amplifier, i am the lucky man that gave the name to it.
Use this topologie, bootstrap, do not exagerate in the bootstrap condenser value, use 5 to 15 miliamperes to the VAS, small current to the differential (2mA), an emitter follower in the output, small current for the driver, something in between 7 and 15 miliamperes, set your output to 1 miliampere, reduce emitter resistances or remove them, avoid output coil..and then you will have the same good sound and same good bass..the topologie does that..no secrets.
regards,
Carlos

In other thread (about D. Self's "blameless" too) it was demonstrated that the difference between the input signal and the output signal of the amplifier was around 0.005% regardless of the presence or absence of the VI limiter. There was no measurable change, and resolution was better than -90dB. Can you hear -90dB? (-40dB is already pretty difficult).

I have some problems to hear when people shout dear Eva
In special when people is a nice woman.
Usually i do not listen....i use to become deaf for a while.

btw: I'm testing the full range version of one of my high power class D amplifiers, +/-100V of music into 4 ohm speaker without any heatsink. Both top and bottom ends are nice 😉

John Blackburn, Dx amplifier builder and good friend, will be
the "Corporation" representative inside the Shefield Forum that soon will start in UK.
An outpost, a representative, an arm of the corporation, a man selected to
infiltrate in the UK Forum for, besides other things that are purely personal, disseminate amplifiers from the Corporation.
I am awaiting his answer, his formal acceptance, an invitation letter was sent, then maybe i will be able to post a picture of him....he looks good.
We do not sell amplifiers by money, we sell satifaction for free, we sell good audio reproduction, a DIY product, for free, for you to build.... our representative does not make sales, as we do not sell amplifiers.
We accept your enthusiam, your "thank you" by the pleasant amplifier, your pictures published to have more and more people building, to spread Dx amplifiers all over the world.

Carlos

I enjoyed the album Livro so much, I had to break it ..... he was irresistable, "... the sweet indian girl biting the apple..." it's still in my head everytime I see name Eva

People use to say their amplifier was not burned, using low impedance loads (Masterinvi is one
of them), using only 2 or three pairs of output transistors.... lucky guy he is..also supply
may help him...when the amplifier is pumping full power, while connected to the 2 ohms loads,
The supply voltage will drop to 35 volts or even less...then the VAS will be safe, the output will
be under risk, for sure, there he may face troubles in the future.
The main reason maybe that my marriage turbo and standard amp was not burn in 2 ohms load at 65volts supply is that i cant turn the amp at full power. My volume control can only be position at 9 oclock. turning more than that the coil of my speaker will goes out and i can hear something like Plak! Plak!. Imagine how many watts turbo can pump at 2 ohms load. My spaeker is only 10 inches diameter and only 1. I rewind it to 2 ohms because im crazy hahahahaha.
And yes uncle carlos, i know in the future i may face a problem with the amp, but future may be still so far away and im enjoying my amp today. he made me smile. i love how turbo give the bass, i love the clarity of standard driving my mid also that pssst!! psssst! pssst!! of the tweeter.
what can i do?
at 9 oclock position of my volume control its enough for my little shop to shake because of deep and tight bass. or shall i call it thunder bass? hahahahaha
Many of my customers have listen to my amp(while they are waiting for thier tv being repaired by my technician) many of them have already ask me how much the cost of this amp if i'll assemble for them. See? because of my crazyness i can have extra income. hahahahahaha
One thing uncle carlos, i believe you have not tried it, try playing your tri amp with MIDI music( those music that only instrument), MIDI is an audio format use for karaoke, We love to sing here in our country, i dont know brazilian people loves singing in karaoke. Try it. Hear the beauty, the clarity.
We have zakura amplifier here, it is widely use and its famous beause its good also when you use it for karaoke. But with my marriage turbo standard those zakura and other brand is so far away from reality hahahahaha
Thats why my customers were amaze when they hear my amp playing.
watch the video i give, the turbo while still not fitted in the case, it has only 4 pairs. driving 4 speakers (inside the 2 big boxes) Plus 1 box(at the top of big boxes) with 1 mid speaker and 1 tweeter.
hahahahaha a miracle because it last 5 hours playing at full volume. 5 hours until we get drunk and we decide to change the power supply to 65 volts ac( to test the amp to the limit) . Please dont ask me if the amp still survive with that supply(same pair of outputs) because it didnt .hahahahaha ( 4 output trannys have gone)
But at least i have tested it in actual, in reality, in front of me. Not by means of many chit chit chat chat theories arguments sciencefiction.
Just build it and listen to it and test it.
Does the amp can drive 2 ohms 4 pairs output? Does it survive for 8 hours playing? if yes then put now the amp in the case and let it drive the 4 ohms and leave it all day and night long. surely he is safe.
Regards
Good, i feel happy reading your text...so.... build a lot and invade
your place with Dx amplifiers....print Dx by Masterinvi and be happy.... send me pictures, publish things about..this is all i want.
You have made my day.... the one is doing the job i have intended to do...to punch strong bass and to be reliable..good to know that.
We can trow all theories in the trash box.... real world test is better, if your transistors are surviving, so, the quantity is proved as enougth.

Carlos

by the way, an accident this morning, while my amp is playing suddenly the speaker seems like being sucked inside, seems like negative rail is present in the output. I immediately off the amp and check the speaker, i havent notice that before while im rewinding and placing the coil in the cone i have touched the spider wire and it bended.
this morning it touched the frame of the speaker, 1 wire is welded in the frame( it means it touched) the other wire maybe not (im not sure) because no mark of spark or short.)
i lefted the wire up and secure it, Power up the amp again. And guess what? He is okey and still strong hahahaha, Miracle isnt it?

It was an accident...
The first time I made my DX amplifier I had no idea of adjusting bias even I didnt have a good multimeter to measure millivolts. Somehow I managed to tune it to a position where I felt the amp does not generate more heat and sound so good. I kept it on and went for a bath (My guest was wrong the trimmer was not in the best place.. LOL) When I came back my room was filled with a smoke but still I hear my favorite song.. I just jumped back and pulled the plug and found out what cause the smoke out.. hahahaha.. its nothing but my transformer... its shellak burnt out and I could hear 50Hz hum.. I touched my heat sink just like an idiot. It was a burn mark on my thumb..hahahahaha.. ouch...
Still I use the same DX amplifier after tuning it with a good multimeter. I just give the credit to Toshiba 2SC5200/2SA1943 very reliable bipolar transistors which i have ever used as well as the amazing designer, uncle Charly... Thank you dear Mr. Carlos selecting those..
The only drawback of those transistors is the size.. hahahaha.. when you increase pairs and pairs I have to give all the space in my room.. LOL.. May be thats why it is so reliable 😀

These transistors were the "fashion" ones, i have selected because would be accepted
by forum folks, without resistance.... Political decision, more political then technical....." is that what they want and believe as better..then let's give this to them."
Others transistors, as big Sankens, mine 4215 and MJL21193..... all those are very strong too.
I see the amplifier is very strong, much more than i have ever imagined Masterinvi.
.......................
Yes Lycanlk, seems you are a Destroyer X alike me....and extra super big destroyer....you are very welcome because of that.
I have selected this name because i have burned hundreds of transistors while learning.

Carlos

Hi Carlos.
It would be an honour to be associated with the DX corporation. I must point out that I am far from expert, this is my first non chipamp build.
I make good tea though. I was apprenticed in car repair so I have made enough tea to sink a battleship, even a destroyer. When the Corporation needs a tea boy and village idiot I'm your man!
Once my DX is built I will go forth and spread the word. DX Amps, Born in Brazil, playing worldwide.
I will do all in my power to get it to the Sheffield meet. Forum member SimontY who is event host is interested in hearing a DX amp.

I agree, very much with you uncle carlos, turbo is so stable , reliable and strong.
@ John blackburn, assemble the amplifier and be surprise. Me too has little knowledge but assembled already 2 amp from uncle carlos, the turbo and the standard. Uncle carlos will surely assist you with your project, will teach you even the basic.
i can also help you a little technique in first time powering your amp(it is an addition to uncle carlos technique), very safe, surely output transistor will not burn, will not burn because they are not connected in the circuit. We will connect them(output transistors) after we are sure that input stage , VAS stage and drivers are all working well. Thats what i have learned after reading all the posts in this thread and in the standard thread. And also from uncle carlos words of wisdom hahahaha.
Join the society of audiophiles, theologians, psychologist, mythologists and crazy like me hahaha
welcome man!!!

Hey Carlos, the Selenium spkrs how would you rate them comparing to products. I know they're popular in Brasil.
My very good friend from my home town in Poland is well spoken in brasilian portugese and arabic - her name is also Ewa. Irony of life, I hope she enjoyes Veloso as well. And I know some persian as well, O-Hum Official Site, Parissa, etc. - v. long story. But I don't wan't too get too much into "...theologians, psychologist, mythologists and ..." , some already consider me crazy - living in Ottawa gets to you after a while. I put on Zuco 103 - Tales of High Fever, it's up-bit, wake-up. I like your music but I understand nothing - maybe this is the whole majic about it.
So, in Brasil do they run 120V/60Hz, or is it 230V/50Hz
all best, Paul

Thanks for the welcome Masterinvi, I still wait for my laser prints for the DX pcbs. The print shop keep printing them too small, or just not printing them at all.
It will be Monday now before I get them. I need to get some drills too and visit a friend who has a pillar drill when I have etched them. Soon though the solder smoke will begin to rise.
