Boy, do I feel like an asss. After 5 hours of reinstalling sound card and the drivers (because SE would not see the input no mater what), reinstalling SE, testing sound card itself and bunch of other things, I've decided to start with simple staff.
2 new probes, I've made recently were constructed incorrectly! How could it be done, you ask?
Apparently in the hands of a talented new comer it can be!
Measurements are fine now.

Time taken to make acoustic measurements
Just out of interest...
How much time do you typically spend on making the in-box acoustic measurements for a project (for all the drivers, 2-way and more)?

Re: Time taken to make acoustic measurements
I usually spend as much time setting up to measure as I do on the actual measurements.
Some of the time depends on how I plan to measure. For example, if I am going to measure all the drivers at one point, for example, 1 meter on the tweeter axis, the measurements can go pretty fast. Maybe, a half hour total.
On the other hand, if I decide to measure each driver on it's own axis at 1 meter, then I have to reposition the mic each time, make sure I have the distances, angles etc. exact. I might spend an hour by the time I am done.
If I have to merge near and far field and port measurements, this takes a fair amount of extra time too.
Finally, I will usually take a few quick off axis measurements just to understand what aberations in the measured frequency response of the drivers are diffraction related. This might take me an extra 15 minutes.
So I would guess that I spend at least an hour for most speakers setting up and taking measurents I am happy with. This time may also include some web surfing, stopping my four year old from setting things on fire, stopping the one year old from eating dirt etc.
Regards,
Dennis

Re: Time taken to make acoustic measurements
Golly, that's the easy part. the basic measurements just take a few minutes after everything is set up.Shaun said:Just out of interest...
