I don't see a latency setting in the M Audio control panel?

I'm using the 6 pin cable.

Do you think ram would be a problem just with firewire? Because it works fine with MAudio Transit.

Thanks for the help!
With the TRANSIT, there is a latency setting that allows low, medium, etc. I would think there would be a similar setting in all M-Audio products.

Ok, lets go one at the time. Since you are on 6 pin FW do you have M Audio Power supply connected while you are doing measurements or you use just power supplied from FW?

I'm using the external power supply that came with the soundcard.

You would think so, but I've never see it. I'm not sure what to do with WDM settings though, so I left them at default.

edit: Harmon sucks for taking Audax out of the diy market...

The French thought the same. It was their hobby and pride, their DIY line. Now they do industrial contracts only, mainly car.

BTW I see many times the American members calling Harmon what we always knew as Harman in Europe. Was it ever marketed as Harmon Kardon in the US?

Good, for the power supply. Next thing is try to increase buffer in the hardware setting of the M audio control panel. With Windows settings - do not do anything about. Set the volume control to the max and than CLOSE window. I noticed that if the window is open than volume sometimes changes.
Try that and see if it helps.

Here is the explanation regarding buffer and latency from M Audio:

ASIO/WDM BUFFER SIZE – In this field you can select the buffer size you wish to work with. Smaller buffer sizes result in lower latency (the
time it takes for your input signal to pass through your audio software and appear at the outputs), but may not function well with slower
systems. The default buffer size setting is 256. This setting may adequately serve your purposes, but if you wish to, you can experiment with
lower settings. If you experience stuttering or crackling in your audio playback, try using a larger buffer size.

So, after 4 hours of running cables, plunging and replugging. I got it running. I mean of cause the Easy Lab part. Using a Behringer measuring Mic, Behringer 802 mixing console for a Mic preamp and my old Sound Blaster Live sound card. Honestly I didn't even think it would work but it did. Viva Creative Labs! It took me a while to enable SB as a device in the System and SE. Somehow SE was looking at SB and Nvidia cheep set on the motherboard for different tasks and that drove me nuts but it's over.

Hey guys. Quick question here. I just started measuring impedance of the drivers in free air and having trouble getting meter levels in MLS at all. While MLS signal emits from DUT, levels remains at 0.
In John Krestovski guide it is mentioned that you cannot use amplifier that has a bridgable output.
My amplifier is professional Behringer A500 which COULD be bridged to double the power.
I am wandering if there's a way around it?

Your problem is probably not the Behringer amplifier, as long as you don't bridge it. Are you able to calibrate the system prior to making the measurement? What are your levels then? You can simplify matters by just measuring a resistor of known value (around 4.7~100R). You could then later, as a sanity check, measure a known-value inductor or capacitor, and keep these around for any time you doubt the system's goodness.

Make sure you have the correct sound card selected in the SE preferences page.

Make sure you have the correct recording input selected (line in) in your sound card record control.

Just about any 2in 2 out 2 PCI sound card should work with SE. Typically problems are only seen with lap tops and Fire wire or USB connected cards.

But if you aren't seeing levels then it would seem you don't have the correct recoding input selected from your sound crad record control.

Parallel Dongle problem

Here is my problem; I would be very thankfull for the advice.
i decided to update my old Dell computer to faster and newer machine. Since I am a Mac person, I was using Windows only for the stuff that I really had to. Now I wanted something that is close to Mac in performance, so I got one. Since it is newer generation mother board it doesn't come with serial or parallel port. Since I have Sound Easy dongle that is for parallel port, I installed the PCI card for serial and parallel port. So everything is in good order - the latest drivers are installed, Windows recognizes these drivers and ports in the device manager. All is good but

Uuups, sorry I posted by mistake. Here is the continuation:

Like I said all is good, but Sound Easy doesn't see the dongle. It comes with the message No Rock Key or something like that. I never had that problem on my old Dell which has parallel port included on mother board. I would have the same message only if I remove the dongle. I checked the setting on the old one and I duplicated exactly the same on the new machine, but with no difference. Still it is not working. Any suggestion is welcome.

Thank you

Contact Bohdan and get a USB dongle and be done with it.

Thanks, I concluded the same. I was just hoping to be done since I wanted to give that older PC to someone. Now I have to keep it until I receive the dongle which might take some time. I am assuming it will be sent from Australia? Not a big deal.

On another note, John I have received your CD a few days ago, thank you. Your SE manual Vers. 1 was great and I would strongly advise all SE users to order it. I was happy to find out that you have upgrade that goes with SE 15, and now I am looking forward to use it. Absolutely great stuff and great help.

SE unlike many programs has full War and Peace manual. That amount of information could be overwhelming and if you want something that will immediately enable you to be up and running, John's manual is a way to go.

Thank you for the help.

I had the same problem and ended up having to buy the USB dongle. It wasn't that much, as it is just an "extension" of the license you already have for the parallel dongle.

Thank you for the reply. Yes I agree. Funny thing is that I have originally ordered SE with USB dongle but eSpeakers didn't have it at the time so they sent me a parallel port one. I knew it that it will come time when I would need the USB.
