The Wolverine 5th Group buy

The use of transistor pair ( 2SA1381E and "SC3503E ) is indipendent by PS voltage?
Sorry for the stupid question , but I don't get the schematic.
The 2SA1381E and SC3503E are generally the recommended transistors for the previous driver current gain stage.

There collectors are connected directly to the power supply rails. They will handle greater than 65V so there's nothing to worry about

TTC004 / KSC3503 and TTA004 / KSA1381 have been successfully used interchangeably in wolverine (so long as used in complimentary pairs where applicable) irrespective of rail voltages 49-71VDC.

The KSC/KSA is just the "better" performing part, except where high gain is required, but now somewhat difficult to find.

I have already made an EF3-4
And I have it in my living room.
Now I want to make the V5.0 3 pair
I prefer the mirror version
My problem is that I have found a pair of Capacitors Jupiter Copper Foil Paper & Wax of 6.8 uF 100v and from what I see it fits better on the previous version IPS boards.
Can I? Order this combination
Thanks

IPS V5.0 / GB5 is improved, however previous versions are still rather SOTA.

Input Capacitor space on V5.0 IPS is physically a bit smaller lengthways than on previous gens. Sorry minoas, there will be no mirrored versions (IPS or OPS) available for versions prior to V5.0. There may be some older boards (non-mirrored) still available, if you wish to go that route try send Stuart a PM.

My recommendation would be to get V5.0 and keep looking for another exotic input cap if so inclined. Perhaps you could mount the cap vertically and wire to legs even if it is axial, just not sure what effects that might have with respect to EMI / microphonics etc.

I don't know what the difference is.
I'm only referring to the placement.
Or if I manage to use the above capacitors
0.58mm (diameter) x 75mm (length)
I have plenty of the V4.9 IPS boards if you'd like them. However what I will say is the Wolverine team made some very interesting discoveries over the months of prototype testing. All the input circuitry prior to Q1 is vitally important to the performance of the amplifier. It's distortion and noise. This is because it's outside of the feedback loop. In other words if you place some exiotic capacitor in for C1 and it picks up any noise other emi interferences then those will be amplified by the amplifiers gain and not reduced by negative feedback.

My recommendations would to build the V5 as its designed and do away with the thought that an exotic capacitor loosely placed is going to some how preform better.

Are the v5.0 boards also EF3-3 or that stands for something else? Also for the mirrored boards, is it only EF3-5 or all EF variations are now mirrored?

Maybe it would be useful if there is a version matrix table where all the versions are explained and what is up for an order in this group buy...sorry I got lost with all the recent updates...

Thanks!

Hi Guy's,

Great news! The 8 pre-release group buy boards for the Wolverine project have been shipped.

IPS V5 (L)
IPS V5 (R)
EF3-3 V5 (L)
EF3-3 V5 (R)
EF3-4 V5 (L)
EF3-4 V5 (R)
EF3-5 V5 (L)
EF3-5 V5 (R)

They are expected to arrive with @Mainframe on Tuesday. We’re thrilled to see these boards in motion, and we’ll share some photos as soon as they land to give you a closer look.

A huge thanks to @Mainframe for handling the final verification and validation process phase and to the Wolverine Team for keeping this project rolling. Stay tuned for updates.
