The Wolverine 5th Group buy

Hi Guy's, Sorry I didn't jump in sooner. I've been super busy. This time around we are only distributing from the USA and Australia.

I'm not sure how the USA international postage system works but here in Australia you can specify the origin where the goods were manufactured. So if we put the destination country as the origin then no duty should be applied. I'll ask @jjs to look into this for orders shipped from he USA.

We generally under estimate the costs of the goods to try and ensure no one gets charged duty. It is, after all a community project and our goal is not to be running a business.

As far as when to expect boards. We are still gathering numbers and answering questions. I'm sorry if I haven't got to yours yet. I hope to catch up by the end of the weekend. From experience the GB usually lasts about 8-10 weeks and then we'll start the ordering process. Boards usually take about 2-3 weeks to arrive. Heatsinks take about 4-5 weeks to arrive. We then have to visual check one of each of the boards to ensure they pass our quality standards.

Once that is done we'll start packing everything up, calculate postage and then send you a payment requests via PayPal.

Hi Everyone,

First off, my apologies for being a bit unresponsive lately – I’ve been tied up with some exciting developments behind the scenes! The Wolverine team has been hard at work, and I’m thrilled to announce a major update for the Wolverine 5th Group Buy: we’ve created a full set of mirrored PCBs for both the EF3-3 and EF3-4 configurations, along with the new V5 IPS boards!

What’s the Big Deal?

These mirrored PCBs are designed to make your builds even more elegant and practical. With mirrored Left and Right versions:
  • Input stages can now sit neatly at the rear of your chassis.
  • Output stages align on the lower half of the heatsink for optimal heat dissipation and symmetry.
  • Compatibility with the current UMS (Universal Mounting Specification) is maintained, with just 3 additional holes needed for the EF3-4 mirrored version – a tweak that @Gianluca has kindly offered to add to the heatsink drill pattern.

Team Effort in Action

This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our team and in particular:
  • @Mainframe has stepped up to build and test a full set of prototypes for the EF3-4 Left and Right versions, alongside the mirrored V5 IPS boards.
  • @danieljw is doing the same for the EF3-3 Left and Right versions, ensuring every detail is dialed in.
  • @Harry3 has been a star, meticulously reviewing the BOM to keep everything spot-on.
  • @jjs has lent his expertise to review and double-check the schematic, ensuring everything is spot on.
  • The result? A cleaner, more symmetrical layout that’s still fully compatible with existing Wolverine designs – perfect for dual mono or stereo builds.

How Does This Fit into the 5th Group Buy?

These mirrored PCBs are now part of the Wolverine 5th Group Buy - Pre Order, alongside the V5 boards, heatsinks, transistors, and supporting boards announced earlier. If you’ve already registered, you will by default receive left and right pcb's – just drop me an email if the is not your preferences. For new participants, check out my original post #1

Why This Matters

Mirrored boards have been a popular request on the Wolverine Build Thread, and we’ve listened. They’re a game-changer for aesthetics, wiring simplicity, and thermal management – all while keeping the Wolverine’s signature performance intact. Whether you’re chasing a pristine dual mono setup or just want a slicker build, these PCBs are for you.

Next Steps

Prototypes are in the works, and we’ll share updates as @Mainframe and @danieljw put them through their paces. Stay tuned to the Wolverine Development Thread and Wolverine Build Thread for progress reports and photos!

As always, thank you for your patience and enthusiasm – it’s your passion that keeps this project thriving after three amazing years. Let’s keep building something extraordinary together!

Best regards,
Stuart & the Wolverine Team

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update: I’ve added all the order details I’ve received so far to my master list for the Wolverine 5th Group Buy. I’ve also replied to everyone who’s emailed me their order sheet. If you haven’t received a response from me acknowledging your order and still want to join this group buy, please resend your Excel order sheet to stuartmp@internode.on.net with the subject “Wolverine Project – Your DiyAudio Username.” I’d hate for anyone to miss out!

Thanks for your enthusiasm

This round will also include 14x preconfigured mouser baskets and a guide for selection and parts substitutions. The extensive BOM put together by the team, especially @Harry3, is expertly crafted to allow plenty of options and use of existing stashes or your favorite obsoletes. However, due to that luxury it can make it difficult to directly upload to mousers BOM tool.

To assist newer builders, value builders, or perhaps experienced builders that just can't be bothered and want to get everything from mouser in one quick hit (or as a starting point to make your preferred substitutions), we're adding in these preconfigured baskets that can be uploaded easily with mousers BOM tool.

We hope they may be of use to some of you.
