As I said I'm just came back from vacation, so at this moment I have no news about the oven. I have found the copper tube, so I can order the PCB for prototyping.
BTW, keep in mind that I'm not sure that SC-cut crystals will work with Clapp circuit, since they have much higher ESR (around 110 ohm), so the losses in the network are greater and so we need higher gain. Maybe, for SC-cut type crystals you have to wait the Butler or the Driscoll oscillators.
And SC crystals have a 2nd resonance about 12% higher that may dominate. It usually
must be suppressed. I would also prefer Butler or Driscoll. Oscillators that treat the crystal
as a hi-Q frequeny-dependant inductor and that need parallel capacitors to tune it to
frequency do not operate on the mechanical resonance frequency and take a hit in Q.
But. & Dris. operate on the series resonance.
regarding simulation:
I still have my License for the Radio Designer, but my connection to the full-blown
Ansoft simulator has died, literally :-(. The Radio designer should be good enough
for all linear cases; I could currently use Microwave Office on the ticket of a customer,
as I did with Agilent Design System and Genesys, (now also Agilent, or whatever
their name is this week). But as long as I don't own the license myself, my invested time
is always in danger of being lost. Don't underestimate the time it takes to master such
an environment. Maybe I'll buy Genesys one day. It cannot do all those esoteric things
but it can do everything that is important. Most of these programs have test/student
versions that should be able to simulate an oscillator.
Don't get fooled into thinking that nonlinear noise simulation is essential for you.
It isn't. You don't design microwave VCOs with bad resonators, and avoiding the
upconversion of AF noise to the carrier is easy.
regards, Gerhard
Thanks
Hi all,
I have just received an unexpected package, and firstly I was a little worry for that, because I didn't remember to have ordered anything.
With a little suspense I have opened the box.... and I have found some italian specialties. I have found a card also.
As soon as i read it, I was moved.
I would thank all of you very very much, but you did not have to do that.
I do this as an hobby, and I'm very glad to share my experiences.
Thanks all again.
The project continues.....

You're welcome Andrea ...
To me there's a joy in being part of recognizing a person for having done something that has an air of being "special" to me ... So my thanks also go to you 😉
... & "in time" I look forward to "swinging" very precisely with these oscillators ... 😛

Thanks all again.
I'm really proud of your recognition, but I do not deserve so much.
This is the copper tube, pressed by a vise, to thermally coupling the crystal with the heater PCB.
Not a simple job, and the result is not optimal.
I will ask for a quote to manufacture these items by a milling machine.

I will arrange soon a new order form, including SC-cut crystals.
As I said previously, I'm not sure SC-cut crystal will work with Clapp oscillator, due to its higher ESR.
So, if you decide to join the group buy for SC-cut crystals, you have to wait until the Butler or Driscoll oscillator are ready (unless you have already your own oscillator to get them working).

Hi Phil,
can you please reply to Hires? He is still waiting the quote for assembly service.
I did ship his items to you for assembly, but seems he has not yet received any quote.
Thanks
Andrea

Me too. No reply...
New Order Form
Attached the new Order Form including the SC-cut crystals.
Since I did ship all the first batch with tracking (losing money) to avoid postal issues, for the second batch I will ship at least with tracking, so shipment without tracking is not provided. I can provide shipping with insurance, if you want, at higher cost as indicated un the form.
Please, download the order form, fill it with quantities desired (yellow cells) and send it back to the e-mail address indicated in the form.

Stijn001, Why did you change to the AT-cut?
andrea_mori, can I pay by bank transfer for SC crystals?
Yes, I will let you know my bank account as soon as I send you back the filled order form.
Stijn001, Why did you change to the AT-cut?
Andrea mentioned: "Maybe, for SC-cut type crystals you have to wait the Butler or the Driscoll oscillators."
Andrea mentioned: "Maybe, for SC-cut type crystals you have to wait the Butler or the Driscoll oscillators."
I would say almost sure, due to the higher ESR of the SC-cut crystal, the transconductance of the jfet of the Clapp oscillator is too low to get it working witch SC-cut type.
On the other side there is a problem of MOQ, I cannot buy 10 or 15 pcs for each frequency for personal use, so a group buy is the only chance to start developing an oscillator using SC-cut crystal.
