Ah, too bad for me ! I hope it may be arrive in the week to come but the Post itself doubt of this !
Yes I phoned to the Customer services, this is what they answer me and the infos i gave you by private mail today :arrived in Roissy France (the place where the international shipments are dispatched !) but no more news : it seems it is lost here !
Better maybe for your next shipments to send with a register mail insurance instead !
So I lost my money, more than 130 euros iirc ! Can I ask you to scan and send me, please, the form you gave to the Italian Post on my private mail you have ! I will fill in a form with a reclamation, spend another 5 euros to a registered mail to the French Post Customer Services for an investigation !
Certainly thieves ! No luck for me !As said no problems the others sipments sent to me by IanCanada, Mravica, Lucian, Partconexions, etc !
What could happen if the big shipment sent to Phil (Korben69) didn't arrive ??????

Hi Eldam,
there is no insurance as I wrote before to collect orders, finally I shipped all the envelopes with registered mail (loosing a little money) to get a tracking number.
Seeing the tracking in other countries you are not the one still waiting for the parcel. French mail tracking is not the best, one can only see that the parcel has arrived in France, but no more infos.
Other tracking service like Royal Mail in UK gives more detailed infos.
I did call Poste Italiane, but they told me that there are no more informations after the package has arrived in France.
I think if you call La Poste asking for the tracking number I sent you, they should be able to track the package in France.
Andrea
(PS : French Post is the main provider of technology and service about posting in the World : it sells to the others National Post Offices of many countries: Italy and UK as well, USA too.... they have a "savoire-faire" a lot of countries envy... but because local human ressources and syndicates : local service of the French Post is totally wasted...Comunism : the money of others is our money : it's a total corruption and the politics pay for the calm when it comes to the french Post ! )

Good news : after many calls to the French Post and some mails in some offices, I finally get today the shipment 🙂
Thanks Andrea to given me the scan of the receipe... it was fundamental to get back my shipment 🙂, it would have been impossible without the Tracking number form... sent the 07 from italy... the 11 in France then nothing till today...
I will use now an extra for insurance to avoid such situation 🙁

Good news : after many calls to the French Post and some mails in some offices, I finally get today the shipment 🙂
Thanks Andrea to given me the scan of the receipe... it was fundamental to get back my shipment 🙂, it would have been impossible without the Tracking number form... sent the 07 from italy... the 11 in France then nothing till today...

Glad to know that finally you received your package.
I'm still working around 90/98 MHz oscillators, I have not yet fixed the starting issue.
I've done several simulations: seems the fet based Clapp oscillator should start and sustain the oscillation, but when I test it on the PCB it doesn't start. As I said previously there could be a problem with the low transconductance of the fet to overcome the ESR of the crystal.
Tomorrow I leave for vacation, so I'll continue experimenting when I'll come back on May 18th.
Simulation results attached.

Is the hot carrier diode a limiter? is it necessary? its capacitance is non-linear and may be eating some of the available high frequency gain. At 100 MHz and higher Spice is not the best tool and you do need good modeling of the parasitics for simulation. Harmonic balance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Usually there would be some AGC circuit to regulate the output, especially at these frequencies since the device parameters change a lot with temperature etc. You do not want to overdrive the crystal since you could break it.
28 mA is a lot for a JFET in that family. The power dissipation alone will be .25 W, right at the limit for the package. If you turn down the current it may work better. I usually keep to around 5 mA.
An ideal system would use an SC crystal around 5-6 MHz for the primary frequency reference (lowest overall phase noise) and then lock (injection lock or PLL) a separate oscillator at the target frequency (lower phase noise away from the carrier) (e.g. 24.576 MHz) which will get the best of both. It would be a major undertaking to get it all running.
The lowest phase noise oscillator circuits I have seen (Wenzel and Oscilloquartz have not shared their best circuits) take the output through the crystal using it as a bandpass filter in the process.

I have already tried removing the diode, but the oscillator doesn't start anyway. The 220K resistor acts as an AGC, thanks to the leakage current flowing through. Removing the diode the amplitude grows till Vcc (15V) and the oscillator becomes instable.
28 mA is probably the upper limit for the fet, I simulated the circuit with high bias current because the fet reaches its maximum transconductance. With lower current it doesn't start either in simulation.
I believe there is not enough gain to overcome the losses in the network and the ESR of the crystal (around 37 ohm).
I'll give a try replacing the fet with a bjt such as BFS20 or BFR92.

Look for low cap RF schottky diodes with <1pF cap. It depends on required voltage but there are some super low cap RF diodes available.
Also WRT low capacitance and in particular low modulated capacitance, there
are better possible Jfet alternatives. J305 is a lower C candidate.
Another option is to try a bootstrapped cascode with mixed jfets. The lower jfet could be higher gm / lower noise, the upper jfet lower capacitance.
There are many combinations depending on specific requirements.
Hello,
sorry, I forgot the deadline, if I am still in time, I add me to the list for the sc cut.

it just occured to me that these are operating in the same frequency range as an FM tuner. Good FM tuners have phase noise not far from a very good crystal oscillator (necessary to get the performance on FM). This is the local oscillator from one of the lowest noise FM tuners made.
This is the local oscillator of the Yamaha TX930. The oscillator is in the center with buffers for driving the mixer and the frequency counter.

If you have a stable signal generator and a scope with lo-cap. probes then you can
feed some RF into the output and watch with the scope where the loop gain fails.
The generator must be close enough to the crystal frequency, of course.
Interesting book in .pdf form, sorry, in German:
< Axtal >
and from the same author, 30 years ago:

P8000 and P8002 were JFETs made by TI long ago and had their 15 minutes
of glory. I still have some P8002 and measured one of them recently.
Gm is ridiculous for the current, but they can easily carry 50mA or more.
P8000 had to-220, P8002 looks like a BD138.
It is impossible to find a data sheet. TI seem to deny fatherhood.
All in all, a BF862 is a much better deal. Much better gm at less dissipation.
If you want to invest some money, Rhea's oscillator books are excellent.
Otherwise, I have written two articles on oscillator simulation.
They are at < hf downloads >.
regards, Gerhard
