The Weather

Saturday with NACIS weather conditions (Not A Cloud In Sight) and 50 MPH wind we equaled the daily record high at 67ºF (20ºC). This is 80ºF warmer than the low a year ago today of -17ºF. All the snow cover is gone but so is the Lake Erie ice. So the Lake Effect Snow machine is bake in business and the weather people predict a goodly amount of snow within the week.

Same here. Sunny day, house windows open, inside and outside temps in the high 60's F. Spent several hours outside including 2.5 miles around the jogging trail at a local park. Several others had the same idea, but the soccer and baseball fields were empty.....lots of MUUUUDDDD and standing water from the snow thaw.

Tomorrow I join the local law enforcement team for an obstacle course challenge run. 6 miles with a 500 foot elevation change, twice. Run up the hill, over it down the other side, turn around and come back. 8 AM start time, expected temp 40F, rain possibility 40%. MUUUUDDDD probability 100%!

Temps are up in the low 60s (15C+), rain, wind, occasional sun shine. We have another chance of snow projected for tomorrow with an accumulation of 1-3" (2.5-7.5cm).

In a week I'll be heading for coastal South Carolina to go kayaking/camping for four days. Weather forecast looks like it will be cool but a low chance of rain.

Fair chance we'll skip real winter overhere, 3 weeks to go till the official start of spring and not a snowflake in sight.

My rule of experience thumb over the last three decades is that februari 10 is the final checkpoint for the horrible snowman.
No snow by februari 10, fair winds till summertime.

I had to pick up some fish for sushi at the commercial fishermen's port yesterday morning, the trawler fleet returns home early friday.
Had deep-fried cod, fresh off the boats two hours earlier.
Eating outside with sunny weather, fishermen working on the nets of a dozen trawlers to look at, life doesn't suck all the time.
