The Weather

Gimp, they should be using a magnet sweep to get the no-seeum nails.

Also, they really shouldn't be putting on a fibreglass shingle at this temperature as most manufacturers won't warrant them. Even at 5c, the warranty won't come into effect until the shingles have reached a temp of 21c for two days. That's not the air temp, but the shingles themselves which can be a lot warmer than the air. If the shingles were stored outside and froze they can take days to reach 5c.

I had to shut a job down a couple weeks back when we had a cold spell and the roofer had unkind things to say to me. I simply told him to get me a letter from the manufacturer giving them the ok. No more comments from the roofer.

I wonder how many flat tires I'll get before I find all the lost nails?

I have picked up about 1 pound of random nails with a speaker magnet from a blown 6 X 9 car speaker. Most seem to be the nails from the siding guys. Roofing nails are a close second.

It's currently 20 degrees F. Expected temp tomorrow morning is 10 F......with the same 20 MPH wind. I think I'll sleep in tomorrow!

It's calm and cool in San Jose, with highs in the 50's and lows in the mid-high 30's - we get Mediterranean rather than Canadian weather. My early New Year's morning was christened by a skunk who let off near the house and smelled like he was in the bedroom with me. I hope it's not a foretaste of the year to come.

Our Summer down here is MIA...New Year Eve, half an hour till midnight it poured so hard it over-ran the gutters, cascading out in sheets. I videoed it for my brother-in-law to see, he's up stateside traveling up the west coast back towards Oregon about now. They're expecting something close to Snow, freezing temperatures et. al. Our temps should break out of this "slump" cranking back up to the expected 85+F. Oddly it seemed things were gonna sort out, but some 3-4 days worth & it just did one of these giant thunderstorm jobs..the one which clashes the Hot air with the Cold front..thunderboomers & the lightshows, driving the temps back down. In a few weeks my brother-in-law will be back from the States with my Qb components..fully expecting hot hot temps. I guess he will be bring the temps back with him.

California, do they get snow? :snowman: ...Las Vegas? :snowman2: :frosty: :hohoho: :Pawprint: :Pawprint: :trapper: :Pawprint: :Pawprint: :deer: :wave2s:

Does Vegas get snow?...Yes, ...as I said, my brother-in-law was doing a Oregon to LA, LA to Vegas, Vegas back to Oregon 'round-robin'. About the time (New Years Day) they were to pull out of Vegas, but heard a snow forecast & was trying to out-run the weather back to Oregon.

Yes, I saw snow in California (news on my laptop), and people are not used to the cold.

Also, there was a forecast for snow in Vegas.

Plus, Arizona too they had snow.

Me I live in Canada, before Alaska, and we have zero snow.

So, if I want to ski, I'm coming to the USA. 😀

* Yeah I Know, the snow is also up high in the mountains.

24C is too hot for me; I need the shade of a palm tree or some' like that.
...And be close to the water, beach, ocean.
...And a glass of cold champagne, or a cold beer. ...Cold tequila drink. ...Or cold rum and coke. ...Or cold caesar with a cold celery. ...Or a cold bloody marry.
I need cold to feel good. If it's too hot (over 15C), I can't breathe.

My blood is very hot.

How's your guy's blood?

you must have a pool to be able to cope with those temperatures... 😱
Here these temperatures will almost disable you... (never had 41C overhere.. 38C was max.)
In Jan/Feb it can go as high as 45C !, and up further north 50C+ in the shade.....leave a spanner out in the sun for 15 minutes and it will burn, badly.
The beach is just over the road, but need to wear thongs (footwear, not g-string) or else the road and concrete footpaths (and beach sand) will blister one's feet 😱.
The trick is to close all doors and windows during the day, and open up at evening to let cool sea breeze through.
It's dry heat here, so not so bad as on the east coast of Aus (humid).
I have been in Denmark with snow and ice....you can keep it !.

Dan.

Dan, when I'm ready to die of exhaustion (extreme heat :flame:) I'll go visit you, during the winter time. And I'll come full equipped; with a "cold water pool built coffin". ...Gotta die in a 'refreshing' mode; with full of ice cubes inside my coffin. ...I love igloo country; Canada North.

* Five (+5) degree Celsius here right now, and very wet (raining); perfect temperature. ...Just comfortable all around.
