The Weather

Its April and we finally caught a break its been -9 in toronto. Ive been preparing for summer. I lucked into a mill working shop, I got inside. Funny I was poking around in the dumpster because many projects I undertake dont take a whole lot of a particular thing. Say you inlay for an effect and so on and so forth. To keep it short I lucked into a really good source for about any kind of woods you can imagine including good consistent multi plys. I think I grabbed about 7 varieties there, including a couple south american mahogony. Nice I plan on a couple humidors and speakersm TT plinths.

I can only get the stuff done during the warmer months now that I lost indoor shop privileges.

The fat stock was free after the guy caught me in the bin and asked me "do you want some for cut board" lol, sure. We got to talking and I have a steady connection for more. Thats gona make for great plinths I can grab more and of other varieties, I didnt want to get greedy LOL. Just the cut off they throw out, its all milled nice and square and clean. Id hate to pay retail in one of the block stores for that stuff I'd go broke.

As luck would have it again I have similar contacts for steels and stone. I probably wont have time to make much I usually bite off more than I can chew, Ill see.

Have a nice spring/summer 16'. 21C this weekend, Ill accept it gladly.

Keeping the room warm isnt a problem with 1-6 amps

Not here. This basement is like living in a giant heat sink. For the past few days it's been rather warm and sunny outside. I spent the day outside yesterday mowing my yard requiring minimal clothing. The house was opened up and the temp inside reached 77F (25C). Despite having all sorts of electronics running, the temp in the lab was 56F (13C) last evening.

Maybe it is finally time to build an 833A amp!

quite playing around with little kiddie tubes, and man up to a GM70

The 833A beats a GM70. I still have the parts for a single channel....no "real" OPT's, and no budget for them. I may however just wire up the tubes to a pair of Hammond 1628SEA's that I have and see what happens.

George I hust had an image of you barefoot, no shirt and hogwashers.

That's about right for the last two days, just an old pair of shorts. I needed a pair of flip flops to fight the annual battle with the Multiflora Rose, a nasty invasive species whose thorns can and have ripped gashes through my flesh, especially when dried out. The barbs break off inside your shin requiring surgical excision with my trusty pair of wire cutters.

Yep, pretty damn fine early spring day today on the west coast - just came in an hour ago from a short siesta on the lower patio, and now reclining in the tub with today's first gin & tonic - a recently rediscovered treat. I am particularly enjoying the Bombay Sapphire East label - some extra botanicals of lemongrass and black peppercorns- actually wuite a nice little "neat" sipper on its own.

Cal - are there any other reasons we live here?
