The Very Best Amplifier I Have Ever Heard!!!!

Maybe this will help for some members who is looking for parts...
I ordered from UTSOURCE.NET
2n5565 $15 each.
Bss71,74 $5 each.
shipping was $10.

I email that company and this is what they answer to me.
They give me NOT the confirmation if they are original, what do all you think?

My question:

Hallo,

Please note that they are NOT Chinese counterfeit.
This one is very important that they are not fake I need the original: 2N5565 JFETS Vishay/Siliconix
When you confirm they are NOT Chinese counterfeit I place the order and I tell the audio forum you have the original components.

Thank you very much for response,

Rudy

This is the answer that I get.

Dear Rudy, pls check the picture and datasheet in attachment ! thanks!

I use a transformer 2x55 V AC.

Go to page 109 and start the reading there.

Ivodonchev have done a simultation both with 2x60 and 2x55V AC.

Current throuh T21/22: ca. 26mA.

From page 130 you can read about bias settings. That will give an idea about the current needed.

As far as I have noticed, I am the first one having a clone ready for listening.
I think there are three or four other builders that might be close to do the same.

Listening tests will come, but I have been delayed with both that and the other test I will do together with Roar. Both was to busy last week, but we will do another try this week to come.

So far I like the sound from this amplifiers and I can say it is on the "warm side", but with much details in the performing.

but what post number is that

Somewhere between 1075-1100.

From the schematic drawings in post 1 ;

- Some 2 mA through the input dual JFET, set by the 6V Zener and 3K resistor (about 2.2-2.3 mA if the silly emitter orientation of the BC182 as drawn by Nag-audio is used)
- Close to 1 mA through the 51K+33K resistors that set the gate voltage of the cascode devices.
- 2 times 6.7mA through the Vas devices (set by 3K plus half of the 220R trimpot).
- Roughly 1.8mA driver bias current (EEK !).
Makes a total of 18.2mA through the series devices T21/T22.

(the reversed emitter orientated BC182 in the CCS for the input stage, as drawn in post 1, makes the bias current level for the input stage dependant on the rail voltage)

The resistors that set the base voltage of T21/T22 draw about 9mA, makes a total of a little over 27mA (~9 + 18.2)

This have been discussed in one of the earlier posts. I used 2N5564.
I know that Alex is trying matched 2SK170. I am looking forward to hear what he will find out.

J 309, I dont know, but have you checked datasheets??

Nagy was very critical to other then 2N5565, as he was to other changes from the original Goldmund. As you can see from other posts from me, I have done other changes to my Goldmund, without coplications

If you look at J 309, the legs are Drain, Source and Gate.

On 2N5565 legs on "one half" are Gate, Drain and Source.

You will run into practical problems with mouting.

More important, as far as I can see, J 309 will not servive the high voltage in Goldmund.
