The Singing Bush

Those KEMETs you mentioned are the slit foils which I am using for the output coupling cap. Some people are brave enough to use them in power supplies but the one time I tried with the MORECROFT they did not work. The caps were destroyed just from being turned on.

Since I got those that will not work from DIGIKEY and they were kind enough to take them back I am getting the caps recommended by Cody from them.
I dont understand splitfoil kemet you buy from digikey were faulty ??

No, I bought 4 pin CDs from DIGIKEY not realizing they could not have two pins removed and work in a standard snap in "socket". Luckily they took them back.

I am using the KEMET slit foils as my output coupling caps on the amps used below 500 hz. They are working quite well. Got those from MOUSER.

I added 180 uf of ASC big can PPs in parallel to the KEMET slit foils. Below 500 hz I do not hear any difference than the KEMETs by themselves but I have left the cans "just in case"! Better than having htem sit in a closet.

The above 500 Hz amplifiers use 1500 uF of Ducati PP with bypass caps. These caps are the size of a large motorcycle battery.

Yes, ZM, there will be caps mounted on each side of the board. This will work out just fine. I will have the caps oriented horizontally - this will work out well.

We have developed an active 3-way system. As a DAC I use a DAC8PRO, which has only XLR output, with an output level of 4.1 V RMS and a 200 ohm maximum differential output impedance. Would a 600: 600 transformer be OK to connect a Singing Bush to this DAC? (I have 2 pieces JT-123-FLCPH)
Thanks a lot!

hello zm,
I want to build this singing bush with 2sk180 parts, but unfortunately i only have a big 20A toroid transformer with 24v single tap

question is, if i had to use a voltage doubler circuit to boost 24vac into 65vdc, what is the negative side that will affect if implemented into this amp.

in theory with voltage doubler
24vac x 2.8 - 2v = arround 65v
and current would become half from 20A into 10A
and it's look like still enough to powering this amp (without knowing the bad side)

thanks.
