Well, I guess there is no need for the cap's case to be REALLY sturdy but I had wondered what really caused that. I was thinking something had fallen on top of IT.
That is not very far and i assume the stair was wooden? This is a good warning to all of us clumsy audio kooks (like me).
Take care,

LED’s lit!!! No magic smoke! Iq is maxed out at 421mV. I didn’t bother to fiddle with SIT drain as it found itself at 36.87 right off the bat. Still need to solder input wires and screw the case together for further testing. Happy so far!
And look ZM, no faston’s!!!!

First sound tonight on one channel. Not without its drama.
For some reason I remembered that the seller had labeled the THF-51’s with a sticker on the bottom. I questioned whether I had removed it….and sure enough there it was. No wonder the THF didn’t seem to want to snug down to the AlOxide thermal pad. Doh!
Second, I decided it was time to hook up a speaker. Major buzz and DC at the terminals! Wth I thought! I moved some wires around and it went away. I didn’t realize until later I had a short to the heat sink from the SIT drain screw where the wire had bent the terminal over. You can see how close it is in the second picture. I need to get some beefier terminals for this connection.
So after the drama, lots of mono listening fun. I can say the pace and tempo of the music struck me the most. Toe tapping was in full effect. I also noticed how textured and fast the bass is with this amp. So far I’m hearing what all the fuss is about. Kudos ZM!

First sound ........
heatshrink....heatshrink....heatshrink....heatshrink....heatshrink!
looks neater, Savior of our Souls in many instances
Is your chassis is built using 5U/300mm store heatsinks?
If they are, can you comment on how hot they get? (I'm curious
whether a 5U/300 store chassis is enough for one channel.)

Hi Dennis. Yes, good catch. They are the 5U/300mm from the store. So far so good. I had the amp running about 40 minutes last night as you see it in the photo. So the fins weren’t even vertical and I was able to hold my hand on the SIT side for more than a few seconds. Definitely very warm. The IXYS side a tad bit cooler. So when I have the chassis assembled I would imagine it would be even better. I’ll test that and take some temps after a full hour and report back.
5U/300 is ok, though in Summer you'll see - Babysitter is always helpful
SIT side having 35V*2A3 dissipation
Mos side having 25V*2A3 dissipation
counting on 60Vdc rail; if more, that more heat on mos side

As I told you, I hit a capacitor, which deformed. For this reason I had to order another. Mouser moved quickly and this allowed me to finish the power supply today. Now I am excited to start mounting the PCB on the radiators tomorrow 🙂

Sure, sure worth it !🙂
It was my first SIT amplifier I made and listened to it about 4 months ago. A sound I really liked! That's why I know I can't go wrong with this case. Worth it!

babysitter was best decision I ever made with regards to Singing Bush. Definitely gives me peace of mind that I'm not smoking precious SITs
