Drink plenty of water on long flights ! Otherwise it will be a killer. If possible no alcohol!🙂
Thanks for your advice, ashok. Not a problem for me. I'm adverse to alcohol anyway.
My main concerns are Diet and Jet-lag. Being diabetic, I have my own meal plans. Unfortunately, what they serve on board is not exactly what I want. To add to my misery, it takes 14 days for my body clock to reset 13 hours (Singapore to US).

I have crossed the ASD at 1.5 KHz, but active only, and it works just fine. Passive crossovers with both the ASD and the D220 need to deal with the z rise at resonance to have a prayer.
Regarding the time delay,
Regarding the time delay,
I have crossed the ASD at 1.5 KHz,
What order ? ( 2nd , 3rd or 4th order) . BW or LR ?
Thanks.
After owning the PSD 2001, I am sort of afraid of Eminence compression drivers...didn't care for that one at all.
Winslow The PSD 2001 is more expensive than the ASD1001. The ASD 1001 seems to be OK. What's wrong with the PSD2001 ?
No top end and really metallic sounding...if that makes sense. Could have been the implementation and my lack of know how at the time. But the B&C DE25 (or was it 45?) as a direct swap was much better to my ears.
Sorry I left things off on my reply,
Time delay 290 uS.
For the crossover,
Passive 6 ohm series resistor & series 4uF cap along with active LR 4th order at 1.5KHz.
The passive components level match with the Beta8CX, and flatten the response of the ASD as well as protect the tweeter from DC etc.
This gives acoustic about -48 dB/octave, -6dB @ 1.5 KHz, and flat response in tweeter passband at 15 (a little up on top) and 30 (a little down on top) degrees.

MLTL
Has anyone tried the 8cx or 10cx in a MLTL enclosure ?
There have been a couple of folks that have mentioned the idea but just curious if anyone has actually tried it yet.

My pair of CX-10's are running in with a test signal. Hope I will be able to measure their TS parameters tomorrow. I had a set earlier but can't find them. I will also install them on my experimental plywood OB panels. I will be using the ASD1001 as the compression driver. The CX10 will sit on top of the OB bass unit. There will be a sealed sub to support signals below 60 Hz or so. It's a very simple setup and I hope it eventually sounds good !
I will measure the electrical response curves of the electrical signal at the driver with the stock crossover. Might come in useful. Driver Z compensation needs to be tested.Wonder if it will make a difference in an active system. I think it should not but I'd like to confirm that with a listening test.

It did not make any difference for me. Using active crossover, used a big film cap as protection for the tweeter, and that was it. Passive cross whole different story!
I'm enjoying the ASD1001 now on top of 12lta and Alpha 15... all on OB. Amazingly relaxing sound you can enjoy for hours.
CX-10 TS parameters
I measured the TS parameters of the two drivers I have. Run in with LF signals for at least 8 hours. Measurement setup. Clio V4.52.

Re , 5.7 , 5.7 , ohms
Le , 0.64 , 0.63 , mH ( 10K )
Qms , 9.1 , 9.51
Qes , 0.48 , 0.46
Qts , 0.45 , 0.44
Vas , 93.39 , 103.89 , Liters
Cms , 0.56 , 0.62 , mm/N

Nice, what are your xovers?
Almost a month from the last post and there appears to be no activity!
I finally fixed the CX10 on to the OB . Rather crude setup but that's the way it will be for now. A CX10 on top and a Kilomax 18 below . There is a sealed boxed sub with a Lab 12 in it ( run Below 60 Hz I guess ). I might change that to a dipole sub eventually. Just need to get the main system working first. Currently the CX10 and ASD1001 will run with a passive crossover . I'll measure the acoustic and electrical resp and Z etc. before deciding what to do. Both units will need eq.
Hopefully I'll have it running within the next 2 weeks !
I also have an 18 inch Chinese Eminence . Might experiment with that for the dipole sub !

My tools are still in storage after my last move so I broke down and ordered a sealed pre-fab car stereo box and put my CX10 / ASD1001 / stock XO in that. I am using it as a center channel speaker and it is on the bottom shelf of my rack.. Sounds way better than the old center I was using (JBL something or other). Wife likes it more also.
After this very crude trial in the future I will be buying two more and making some type of TL type enclosure with them for mains.
The only change I would make to this stock parts is to maybe try a different l-pad on the ASD's. Since the ASD1001 is less efficient the treble is a tad bit recessed. I might bring it up a db or two on the mains.. Would probably leave as is on the center.

Might be a good idea to just leave things as they are ( for a while ) as they certainly aren't obnoxious now. After several weeks if you feel it should be corrected then you will need to measure it before changing anything. Of course you can go by ear also and leave it at what you like best. It doesn't have to be a flat response ( never will be in a normal room !) . If your ear says it likes it than stay with it !😉
