It's only a light. It does nothing other than turn on, because as we know, all pass amps need blue LEDs... 😀 😀 😀

There is no audible difference. Buy the modern, cheaper one.
You bet!

Jim,
A blue LED is much more than "only a light". It is cause for a Nobel prize!

Hi,
Do you think any changes required if I were to use Fairchild FQA19n20c?
My guess is that (especially with 9.1V zener) that there's enough adjustment
room for the higher Vgs.
Cheers,
Dennis (Clueless Amplifier Builder)

Blue is nice, however if one is a dedicated follower of fashion, blue might be out the other week. Tri-colour LEDs to the rescue.

You do not NEED a CPU to control it 😅

Dennis - There should be no issues at all with the Fairchild. By all means proceed.
Papa said in the F5 Fairchilds have "bigger temperature coefficient, so they
drift more with temperature"
Not sure how that translates to the F6?

Hmmm...good point. Maybe I'll just stick with a known quantity
and get some IRFP240, and save the Fairchilds for another day.

But Nelson's answer was in the context of why the F6 had no bias compensation thermistor like the F5...
This bias is quite different. I think there will be no issues.

Thank you for the link. I'll order a few.
You're right, BLUE is COOL.🙂
My F-6 kit shipped! Ineed another case. I wish the store sold just the sinks and mounting brackets, then you could leave amp boards and output devices attached, and attach new sinks with different amp.

you can order those parts in Italy at Modushop.... I was thinking exactly the same, when I removed my F5 boards to replace for F6... and maybe some day for F7 🙂😀
Matched FETs?
Does anybody know when there will be matched FETs in the shop again?
I would like to build the F6 but without active parts I can´t begin.
Does anybody else have matched maybe they could sell?

F6 boards and transformers ordered on the 23rd and they arrived this morning got to look at them now have to get to grips with ordering all the other parts still
Thanks for the great store service and all the input from members to get this project this far

I think 6l6 said they were on the way, but they are in short supply and go very quickly, so watch closely.Does anybody know when there will be matched FETs in the shop again?

Yes, but if the shop had it, they could have it pre drilled and tapped with their
pattern, greatly simplifying the conversion. I suppose modushop (HiFi2000) could drill the pattern, I assume they do it for the DiyStore, but I will have to check the cost of sink, + brackets, + drill/tap, + shipping to see if any cheaper than store box. If I'm going to have to drill and tap, I will probably source from the Chinese "audio catalog" place. I drilled and tapped for my first Pass amp, do not want all those aluminum shavings everywhere again!
