Jim, did you ever hear the F6 Jfet version? Are they close in sound? Maybe 6moons has a comparison??
I've built both. Very, very similar in sound, as you would expect. Jfet measures a bit better. They are, however, essentially unobtainium.
Mosfet sounds fantastic. This is going to be a very popular amp once a few get out into the wild and people start talking about how good it is.

The jfet version is great. Very close to the vFet 2sk82 L'amp with choke. The midrange realism is fantastic. F6 will take over where the F5 left off. F5 being a great amp in its own right. I'm just finishing the F5T v2 wiring of FE and output boards. 🙂

This is very exciting to hear. I would love to see a comparison between
the F6 and the M2.

I wholeheartedly agree with Jim this amp is a superb performer. I've been enjoying mine for the past few weeks it is an addictive listen.
Ill have to retry M2. It did not present itself that way the first time. I was using Fairchild instead of IRF.
F6 with Salas 6v6 is lovely combo.

... Yeah.
I'm starting to think that this amp is really 90% transformer and 10% some way to get the bias there and current flowing. I suspect, with the M2, if you used a Jensen or CineMag yiu wouid think more highly of it.

I really enjoy my F6 (buzzforb Funny6 with the JFets) - great soundstage and not at all fatiguing. Outstanding mids.
Putting together the same with 240s using TeaBags boards.
Transformer recommendation for the M2?
Best and thanks

I'm not sure.
I think the first PCB will be first come first serve, but don't quote me on that.

What about if we know someone? 😱
Have any of the other beta builders experienced problems with drifting bias and offset settings?
I listened to a couple of cd's yesterday and thought that things didn't sound quite right and found that the heatsinks were not as warm as usual. On checking things I found the bias was down at 400mv and the offset was up at 50mv.I spent a while resetting things but found that the bias would sit at 600mv then drop by 40mv before slowly climbing back up with the offset fluctuating also🙁
Any pointers would be much appreciated.TIA

I wonder if some kind soul can put me out of my ignorant misery. I was about to put together a hardwired mosfet version and was using didiet relayout image(post #64) as a reference.
I'm working from Papa's mosfet diy schematic, which I think is the same as the original F6 buffered schematic except for the intro of degeneration and the change from led to zeners.
What I can't see is why the jensen pins on the jt123 spec and also on Papa's schematic don't match the pin numbers on Didiet's circuit layout, e.g Didiet seems to have pins 1 and 3 joined and pins 2 and 4 joined. Looking at Papas schematic and the jensen spec this would appear to short the windings.
Can anybody suggest where I'm going wrong?

Marra, I have had no issue with the new layout. I have asked PKI if he has noticed anything.
Vitalstates, If you are looking at the old layout, then yes, the pin configuration is incorrect. It was changed.
