Soul Couching El Oso sounds good on my jfet F6. Not really hip-hop, but has elements of it. It's a mix of acoustic and electronic instruments. Aside from liking it, I use it to see how far down my speakers can go. Unfortunately for me, not far enough with FR drivers.
ZM, we had a conversation with buzz the other day. Do you think input transformers can affect the amp performance at LF? Even though specs show transformers are good at least to 20-30Hz (where almost no normal speakers play properly anyway).
blasphemy!
you're doubting Papa's choice ?

I still didn't tried that exact iron , but what I'm hearing in my Papa's Koan M2 and F6 iterations I tried with Iskra Iron ..... me likee
that sort of immediacy is hard to beat , if you're not exactly of anal Halcro types

he's at least one of too many to follow , so please ..... do not even enlighten me what's in question
for that sort of action , I already have real deal (not lolipop wannabee , as HS is comparing to) - our own Jaccolina

I bet Jacco knows exactly to what I am referring, having most likely tried it🙂
And I hope no one misunderstands me, f6 is stilly favorite Papa amp, even when compared to fake M2, but I do not have repeaters in FE either.
My speakes for reference

ZM, as we all notice, pictures quality improved significantly for the last year. We can forgive him that! On step at a time 🙂.
Did you scrape the paint off the chassis base for the chassis ground? It's near the purple wire and bridge?
Looks good! Looking forward to build it.

I see there have been some recent questions about how to get the boards but I can't seem to find any replies....I've read the whole thread through a couple of times...maybe I'm losing it...
how do we get the boards, and when, anybody?
also is there a definitive version of the circuit that this board uses, one that shows the amendments that didier has made?
thanks
Ed

diyAudio store.
Not yet. Soon. (Yes, this is taking awhile, sorry...)
No changes have been made to the original circuit that Nelson gave us.
It's the schematic in the very first post, but here it is again -- 🙂
(Although Z1 and Z2 should probably be 9.1V)

Diode for protection?
Good. I have tons of those zeners.
Nope - it's to make voltage for biasing the output Mosfets. 9.1v is more than enough, it then gets adjusted down by the pots.
Wild guess, Mister N. chose the 5.1v zener because it is thermally stable.
A 9.1v is not.
Is that a problem?
Edit:
How about using two 5.1v zeners in series?

Nothing at all to do with thermal stability - the 5.1V wasn't making enough voltage to get the output mosfets to bias properly, 9.1V is good.
Yes, (2) 5.1V in series would be fine.

NP chose 5V1 in first instance , as adequate voltage level for Semisouth parts biasing
5V1 , 9V1 - same drek , equally bad TempCo
however , irrelevant here , be it Semisouth or plain IRFP in question
