Well, I'm surprised.

4 pages into this thread and nobody has posted a comment along the lines of "X is better than Y because of Z".

Which leads me to wonder: is there any real (noticable performance) difference between an XO2, Trichord4 or Kwak? Or does it come down to implementation? Ie, avoid shoving it through a '04.

Every clock creator finds his own clock the best. So did you expect a serious answer from me poynton? I am searching for Jocko's but why must I do all the work again?🙄
I tried a few clocks myself: LC-AudioXO2, Tent, Miniclock, KK Ho's clock.
The outcome? Highly biased (of course!) So..........??

Division by 3 is certainly possible but will the clocked device accept a 2:1 mark/space ratio?

yes, but......

most clock manufacturers don't publish measured data so comparison is not easilly made.

For several reasons I won't publish measurements on non-Tentlabs clocks

Seriously- a universal oscillator of today is a frequency synthesizer, and building a simple one- with virtually no phase noise - is absolutely no joke.. alas - you are left with single X-tal oscillators, - and building good ones is no joke either

So what do you do when someone says X measures better than Y and you then install X only to find, to you at least, it sounds awful? It matters not a jot how well something measures if you don't like the result.

It was stated above that some cd-p's play faster than others. This would indicate that the bit-rate was different ( faster ). What effect on sound quality would this have if the dac clock (Kwak, Tent, Jocko or otherwise) was 'perfect'?

Well it's me that told that but it was practically an half tone pitch difference. I don't know if the XTals are different or not.

A half tone difference is obviously a malfunction! Redbookstandard is 50 or 100 ppm , don't remember exactly 🙄

I don't remember exactly if it was an half tone as it was months ago but I was A/Bing when I found this. BTW, I hear a difference between single Hertz(At least in the 17-500Hz range) while A/Bing. Playing two instruments might help 😉 😀

1 on 500= 1/500 x 100%= 0.2% best case for your hearing. How much is a ppm again? Far out of spec anyway! Anyone???
Or 1 on 17Hz ? 6% WAY out of spec!!🙄
