Well it was so fast put together and braces included I wondered. Cant wait to finally start on my Othorn.

I had to put the project on hold from this point, as I've had a busy last 4 days since I took this pic. got to soundcheck em. a bit dissapointed I can hit excursion limits (distortion) witha bridged macrotech 3600 (into an 8 ohm cab), but they are damn loud before that point.

Why is one so much taller than the other? Different versions of the cab?

And why are you disappointed? A bridged 3600vz is 3140w rms into 8 ohms bridged. That's pretty good...

they are identical. its un even ground and an odd angle (random phone pic).


i guess I'm not "dissapointed", but I was on a 15 amp breakers, so I know I wasnt giving them 3140w in my 30 minute test.

Hey guys I'm back from the dead. Nice to see sine's new TH18 build - wait till you start boundary loading, that'll get some extra output for sure.

BTW can these be made with 12mm ply and extra bracing?

From my experience, even 18mm without bracing is not enough. Ifd you do it with 12mm, you will need a lot of bracing and give it a lot of thought where to put the bracing. It is possible, but quite difficult. I wouldn`t do it.

Hello Guys,

I've been reading through this thread and it's bloody amazing! Well done to everyone!

I'm taking the plunge on building one but I can't seem to think of a way to make the angled cuts on the big pieces! I've got a compound mitre saw at home but it certainly won't accommodate the bigger pieces! Anyone know of a company in London that would do them?

sal. borrow a table saw from one of your mates!

you *could* do it on a compount mitre in 2 cuts (flip the board after making initial cut so you can get the other side), but it wont be fun at all.

may I suggest the keystone? its a much easier build, with far less angles.

forgot to ask....adding handles etc...obviously handles will take up space inside the cab, however small...does this effect the sound in any way?

Handles don't need to take up any interior space.
You can cut the angles using a circular saw and a long ruler clamped to the wood as a guide.

I agree with sine 143 that the Keystone is a far easier build, but it is a bit larger (and louder).

You may as well build all the same type and use them both at once rather than faff around with different designs - unless you just love to build and try out different designs! (like me if I had more room)
