Thank you, actually that globe is now rather obsolete. I haven't made it yet but there is a much better version in the works. Theres a whole lotta metal in these replicas trying to get the thing to be extremely solid. For the voice I have here a recording I havent put here yet Plus its nirvana so either way take a listen.

Just got the Motor covers looking sharp The internals are in the works So right now this thing is just dry fitted more or less so the alignment isnt all there and the Diaphragm is the incorrect size and so on.

Better & better, every update. *G*
Are you going to try to do the bass units as well? I realize those would be even more of a 'summer project' than what you've been working on so far. Larger lamellas, etc. Just curious...

Yes I do i have the materials chosen for the most part and overall design the hardest part is fabrication.
Internals semi complete
These are the internal structures that make up the inside extremely solid there is more about 3 more pieces which are in the works. Made by the same partner who made the motor covers... He will make his debut when he has further works.

Further Metal Magic
A further look into the internal works As always credit to machining and partnership in design goes to my partner.

I am bumping this thread as considering a pair of these for my MBL 101, originals - run a comparison. Wonder if they will be plug n play without resister or crossover mods to existing speakers?
I have some pictures. I honestly could not tell you if they would be plug in play made to the MBL 101mkII specifications. I only have the numbers for the newest model. But really the only thing that could be different is mounting mechanism and voice coil diameter/impedance. Both of these factors can easily be adjusted if you were to send the broken unit to make a replica of that. The only way to make a plug and play unit is to have the numbers of all variables which for this older model is unknown to me.
What are the frequency cuts for each driver?
What about the bass. Will it be ported as in MBL or you are open to other solutions like OB GR servo as a base and bass?

I am open to creating a diffrent bass units as I have heard of problems with the mbl bass unit. I do however want to make it look identical I am in love with the design.
....and the 'summer quest' continues...😉
No pertinent observations from this quarter...just lurking, following the arc of the project. *S*

21st September 2012: "I have a good 2 months out of school and i decided to build a replication of the loudspeakers MBL 101 mkII."
😀
I'm still checking this thread for any updates 🙂 Incredible effort and most ambitious diy audio project I have seen so far.
