If anyone knows where I can buy another one especially for $17.00 like blueknyt did, please let me know where to get one, I would like to buy one for my son.
I bought 3 of them at Toys R Us for $17 each a couple months ago....I believe that was in Madison Wisconsin. I think that's where that store was?!

Try there if you haven't already.

Currently working on building the projector into the little cases that comes with the controllers. Using the optics and lighting from a slide projector that didn't have enough room for the lcd and controller board.

I checked the Toy's R Us website and according to it they are out of stock on all Hip screen's for PS2- Gamecube & XBOX. Did you buy the controllers In Madison or did you order them from the website? The only ones I can find are on Ebay and they average between 35 and 50 bucks usd including shipping. Seems like someone in Canada bought up alot of these controllers because pretty much all of the ones listed on Ebay are located in Canada.

I got them in the store. I'm a long haul truck driver and I was going to all the Toys R Us stores that I could find, searching for the PSOne 5" lcd for $12 as well as these controllers.

I've stripped one screenpad for this projector, using one on my playstation, and still haven't even opened the third yet. Just wanted an extra incase I fry something while building the projector.

Ok... yesterday Ive aquired a slide projector and a nice 60" silver lenticular projection screen (with tripod, rollup screen). The projector came with a table and an extra bulb. Cost me only $10!
Popped in the HipGear, yay it works! And the brightness is adiquate (spelling?), the contrast ok too. The color balance was pretty yellowish though. The thing that really bothered me was that the pixels were so gigantic, and how seperated the 3 colors were. Unlike normal LCDs where each color is a stripe, this one used square dots, really annoying. Still ok at a 12-15 feet viewing distance on a 60" screen. The corners/sides were abit cut off... The LCD didnt need any extra cooling... what else... ummm... After that I watched abit of my video only (480i) crt projector, 84" picture, about 9 foot viewing distance, STUNNING, especially after watching the Hipgear.........

I really did like the way this little project can have a "commercial projector" look though.

Well, thats my report on this thing... any questions, fire away!
(screenshots can follow, decent ones too, if anyone is interested.)

Ok, Ill try to get pics if I can get one of my buddies to come over with his digicam. To me, the pixilazation is horrible. To get rid of it, you have to defocus so much that the image becomes oh so crappy (slight diffocusing to get rid of sharp pixel edges is better).

From what Ive seen, a PS1 screen can definately beat it.

Eh sorry to say this, but I just got too sick of it. The quality is crap, the brightness wasnt great either, and it didnt stop that pellet very well...

Sorry but I have no way of taking pics of it now...
Damn could have sold it too😀
Cheers,
Alex

bulb

Hi there...

I bought an old ANSCO slide projector, and managed to put in the 2.5 hip gear lcd, to see the bulb die on me after 10 minutes of trial. The bulb was an old 300 watts.

Any idea of what I could use to replace it cheaply??

Thank you all

Hey little fella 🙂 I been about mate just not overly active here bud...gettin' rather repetitve these days same questions over and over again by the new people (which is good to see on the forum) that have been answered in the forum many times before so I just sit back and read most of the time now 🙂

My projector is still in the same state as before buddy...I knocked it over unfortuneatly and the LCD is on the blink so to speak...think I may have pulled the small FFC cable from the LCD itself haven't had time to pull it apart and check I have been busy with upgrades and case mods check ma website for the latest on that matey 🙂

Nearly finished with the PC will be looking into a new LCD screen if I can't get any sense out of this one again...

thanks for asking Alex 🙂

G-day, m8!

He-he... I may be not old enough to drink, but I aint that little😉 (6'2" last time I checked...)

Really sucks how your project came to a sudden hault... if only replacment FCC cables were easy to get, seeing how popular this LCD is for DIY projection...Will most definately be looking forward to seeing those results (wasnt I supposed to see them... like last year or somewhere in that area???😉 )

Ive seen some of your new stuff on the webside, pretty impressive, how does it run with a nice AMD 64 now? Would love to upgrade my self, but im on a job-less budget right now😀

Oh, and congrats on the 1.5mbit line! And even though I aint american, 1.5 still isint as impressive as it could be... got a 3.0/384 over here, $45 canadian a month... (can get 5.0 for the same price, but need to buy the $100 modem and take full responsibility for it too...)
What did you have before? Dialup? (if yes, man it must 'ave felt great to watch those pages pop up in seconds, and those illegal downloads finishing within hours and minutes.... ive said too much😀 )

Cheers Kim🙂
