I try and build a new ‘subwoofer’ every few weeks or so to listen, measure, learn, etc .

The more recent expense in wood and drivers forced me to shrink that to keep it reasonable and not a huge waste of $ since most if them end up in the trash eventually to make room for the next. (Plus a few meters of a folded path with a csa for an 18 ds115 is impossible to put anywhere but the garage as a wooden refrigerator 🤓

Most active PA subwoofers on the market today come with DSP.

No direct radiator enclosure can beat the clean output that comes out of a BP enclosure.

📦🔊📣🎶 4 life!

And strategic offset absorber stubs to target what we are boosting (the 3/4 resonace) , ironically , in a simple folded 1/4 wave pipe .🤷🏼

high ebp woofer should deliver a "harder" sound in high order quarter wave enclosures but im not sure the effect is easily modeled. It will also amplify the resonances.

And in tapped horns (or horn loaded shapes) the Fb suffers do to lack of motorforce (or maybe overly tight suspensions) to excite the fundametal resonace of such a ‘tight’ resonator ? I get a bit confused with the car audio SPL drivers verses high end PA drivers and wish they would hurry up and build something in between (it’s coming soon, so more people can build big tapped horns and pipes in huge car audio builds )

This big bass reflex /MLTL design sucks and all of that area with the blue arrows is lifeless and ‘thud’, not ‘thump’.. (I think that’s what you’re referring to ‘middle of the passband’ as well?)

The tighter ‘qw pipe’ sure helps that .
