So i impulse bought a sub. What would you do with it?

The DTS-20 used a couple tuned resonators to null out some unwanted resonances. Not sure if this was used in other designs.

DTS-20 layout (from Danley's TH patent, US8457341B2) is shown in this post https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/tom-danleys-tower-of-power.79102/post-1426385
Also comes up in various other threads.

There are some photos of the resonator pipes kicking around, for example
https://forum.speakerplans.com/danley-dts20-plans_topic89118_post891973.html#891973 but I haven't seen any with actual dimensions.

It has be either a TH Mini, TH11x, DTS-10 or 20.
The DSL TH Mini, TH115, TH118 don't use tuned absorbers.
The DTS-10 uses foam damping, but it's ringing peaks at 50 and 86Hz are too low to tame with Helmholtz absorbers of a reasonable size.

As matt996 wrote, it is the DTS "Tower of Power" used the pipe absorbers to muffle around 130 Hz, leaving two smaller impedance peaks rather than one big one.

An inductor was also used on DTS20 12" woofer to reduce some of the upper peaks.

you can reduce the original size from 18cf to 12cf. it will raise the fb to 35hz and there will be an output reduction at the high end of the bandpass of around -2db. basically, if choosing this style of enclosure, the throat needs to be 1000cm2 for this driver. the pathlength can be changed and the helmholtz can be changed. both will affect response.

even if the enclosure is over 12cf i think that amount of acoustic energy from 700watts and 189$ driver is pretty good. actually i think it still meets the iron law thing. but it shows that you should revise revise revise. in retrospect i wish i would have purchased the skar evl 18 for my enclosure because i now know that its the VAS that is important not the SD (actually i think its more of a ratio so both are technically correct). it would have been cheaper, and if the parameters given are true, it would have had lower GD and higher output at fb. i'm still happy with my subwoofer though and i cant wait to get it into my truck!

Skar evl motor is really high Qts and seems to cater to the one note big bass reflex car audio stuff?

I doubt these are ‘fully broken in’ but still look intimidating for a vented box?

qts is not the determining factor of tapped horn efficacy, nor is BL. im not sure who said that or why it has stuck. now that i have figured that out, i quit looking for it and it has saved a lot of time and confusion.

Qes is related to motorforce and you can easily experience this by changing the driver in a tapped horn and observing the fundamental frequency, suffer greatly

Or add a resistor to your low Qes driver and pretend to raise the Qes? Or unplug a voice coil in a dvc
