Smoking. Do you smoke? Why and what do you smoke? Why not?

Those are withdrawal symptoms...

The degree to which it affects people varies widely same as it does for alcohol. There's an attempt to demonise nicotine, but separated from tobacco there's no need IMO, vaping etc should be regulated, licensed, taxed, like alcohol, nothing more.

Something doesn't need to be physically addictive to be addictive though. Bodybuilders are addicted to PEDs because of how they make them look/feel...
Yup, caffiene is worse as my headache is more severe but the desire to use it or use more is not there. I believe other ingredients in cigs cause the addiction more then the nicotine.

In bodybuilders I believe its more of a obsession then addiction. I am not saying you cant get addicted to PEDS but it is not the normal used drug for everyone else. 🙂

I got my dad to quit in the 70s, took a combination of tactics, but I am sure he was considering it regardless.
I hand drew some recreated American Lung Association posters, scaled down, and placed on every light switch in the house.
Also had fun with the explosion prank “loads” from the novelty store, placing multiple ones into the cigarettes…

He went on to become a cyclist at competition levels for many years, only stopping recently due to balance issues at nearly 80 years of age.

I like to smoke, i look cool doing it says some ladies, so i can not quit. I smoke mostly cheap cigarettes, i like long cigarettes so i can look cool slightly longer. And the best cigarrette is the one in the morning, not the one after xxx.

I've been smoking cigarettes for 40 years now.
When I was a teenager, the only warnings on household chemicals was 'Flammable'. Nothing else.
Smoking wasn't dangerous either back then. It was cool, and everybody did it.
Today it's just a stupid and very expensive habit, and I will quit. Soon.

🙄

I developed some medical equipment, trials took place at a hospital that is #5 in the world for head and neck cancer, they even have a Cyclotron.
I saw a lot of people wandering about with tubes through their noses.
It seems those are either nasal feeding tubes, or drains for removing fluids post surgery.
We have a very sweet thing here called 'gutka' essentially flavored tobacco and betel nuts, very addictive.
That gutka, 'bidis', and other forms of chewing and smoking tobacco lead many patients the hospital.
Truly horrifying, and a sobering lesson not to smoke, or use tobacco in any form.

Tobacco stems, wrapped in muslin, are very effective in preserving garments, the cloth prevents permanent stains from the tobacco onto your garments. Better and longer lasting than moth balls.

I quit 3 1/2 years ago with the help of willpower and the patch. The patch worked really well, after the last patch my cravings were greatly reduced and manageable. I smoked from 15 to 31,quit for 3 years and then from 35 to 66.My coughing and phlegm were thru the roof and that, along with the outrageous costs of tobacco in Canada is what prompted me to quit. If I can do it, anyone can. Mental preparedness and the patch are the keys as far as i'm concerned. I'm so happy I suceeded, i hated being a slave to my addiction.

Vaping is dangerous, too many formulas around in this part of the world.
Some have narcotics added.

You usually need a pinch of snuff, applied inside the nostrils, so the quantity is much less than a cigarette for example.
We even have a tobacco tooth paste here, it does stain the teeth badly.

Again, it is your life and your body, to use or abuse.

That does not make serial-quitters feel better. It IS tough. I am glad you have de-slaved yourself.

Since most folks here use forums, try this one.

While it is affiliated with a large US hospital, they don't care who you are. There is a LOT of mutual support and sharing. The social side is not my thing but there is a lot of information. If you have tried an organized Quit in the US you know the tobacco companies "want to help"; ultimately patch/gum may NOT be the answer to your healing; you judge.
