You get some price decrease as volume goes up, but any real breakpoints occur at much higher volumes that you normally see in a GB. Wether I order 20 or 100 the price was pretty stable. I have not ever ordered more than 100 of any one thing so I can't say with certainty, howerver I'd think the real dicounts happen at 1000 and 10000 pieces.
I imagine that board size must come into the picture but there must also be some kind of setup fees, at least that is always the way it is with everything else I work with. Is there a board size where the prices go up significantly where the equipment requirements go up with the size. I am running up to this with 3D printing, there is a definite size limitation before prices jump very quickly and max size is really limited with all but a few specialized manufacturers who only do in house production closed source production. The price to make the three pieces for my speaker for a prototype working model was $9,000 for a single unit, not a pair for 9 pounds of material.
Small pcbs (<100x100mm) fit in the batch/prototype area and can be had for a very low cost ($15 + postage) for 10 boards.
It amazing how many designs can fit in this area. 😉

jkuetemann has very graciously given permission for us to use his layout of the spooky input stage.

Are you referring to the six pairs idea or are you talking about the shortened 3 pairs boards that some have made on their own? Most just take the 5 pairs board and only populate the center and outer pairs for a 3 pairs board. A three pairs board laid out like the current 5 pairs board OS has done with the outer pairs moved to the ends of the board and compacted would be a nice addition.

Borys made a small 3P OPS based on the Slewmaster. It wires up slightly differently but works well. It has a very small footprint by comparison.
