I'm switching to c3503/a1381 - C3263/A1294. I'm trying to decide on C3263/A1294 or A1295/C3264 for the outputs. I'd like the latter but then I need to redrill the heat sinks.
340/350 should work for VAS's. 15032/33 will work for the 5 pair, but a bigger
TO-3P like my C3263/A1294 will be better for difficult loads and will have less
heat.
The original HK680 EF3 had the 2sc4793/a1837 ... but only drove 2 pair
MT-100 sanken. "Slewbaby" is nearly an exact clone of this with to-220 drivers.
Most economical would be mje340/350 - njw0281/0302 - njw0281/0302 as
pre - driver - output.
Most ideal would be like mine .... c3503/a1381 - C3263/A1294 - njw0281/0302.
There is a better driver - Sanken 2SC2837/2SA1186 , fastest TO-3p in the west -
110pF Cob - 60-80mhz Ft ... wish I had those !!
OS
Sanken 2SC2837/2SA1186 are available through Digikey.🙄 Do drivers see opposite rail voltage like outputs do? Is the 150 volt rating an issue if used with 70 volt rails?

Use it with 63V or below....
DigiKey isn't real solution for Europe due to taxes charge.
Digikey's not a solution in the US either due to their incompetence but they are great here in Canada. 😀
I use 2sc3601 + 2sc1837 + mjl4302 pre-driv-out it Work fine for my 'HK990' clone using +-50v psu 🙂
2sc3601 are dead fast transistor and almost same specs AS 2sc3501 but i Will stick to
2sc3503 + 2sc3503 + 2sc3263 + 2 pair mjl4302 = vas + pre + driver + output as you guys recommend🙂 my
loudspeaker PCA 720-R 2way from Danish 'frequence' built with scanspeak
R3006/662000 and 18WU/ 4741T00 playing wunderfull🙂

Can KSA2690A from slewmaster cap multiplier be replaced with more easy to supply transistor?
Almost any TO-126 pair can be used in the multiplier, there are no special requirements aside from adequate voltage and current ratings and a decent beta. The MJE340 / MJE350 are fine there.
Thanks MJE350 are easy and cheap to supply🙂
Last question: where do you get the fine 'heatsink' used for the drivers, is it homemade?

Yes that is home made.
jwilhelm,
I think you were the one who made those aluminum mounts for OS and some others that fit so well. Would you be willing to share the sheet metal plans with bend radius and such so we could duplicate those? They did look really nice and there is nothing like getting it right the first time!

Thanks for heatsink drawings🙂
I ordered some cheap 2SC3503 and 2sa1381 noname Sold as pairs on ebay
So i hope they are okay for the kypton - Else i should pay 8$ for each one

The to126 ksa and ksc devices can be bought from both Farnell and Mouser, in larger quateties app 30 cent each
I never designed any FET OPS's , you might want to ask someone who did ??
😕
PS - I have no connection to any of these modifications.

It was me, in cooperation with Jason Kuetemann, while you were "away" for some time 🙂
Gabor, I only use this design (very successfully) with IRFP240/9240 Hex-FETs. Never tried any other FETS here. However, I believe Toshiba's verticals will work fine. Please note - we had to modify the Vbe spreader (adding a red LED) for better match the tempco of IRFPs - this will most likely be required for Toshiba as well (see attached, plus my and Jason's posts earlier in this thread).
