SissySIT R.3

Or,
in two months . . . :clock:
you can change your mind ten times ; ;
start other projects and never finish them ' '
start amplifiers of which only one channel is working . .

at least that is my experience 🙄

You can also look for non-pin compatible transformers, even Z9, Z11 and amorphous ones

Or,
you can buy CMOQ-4LPC (50% nickel) which is in stock at Don-Audio, what I just did 15 minutes ago.
Difference between HPC and LPC transformer versions IMO, can be determined only by measurement gear, not by ear.

Though, I'm yet to order PCBs from Zen Mod. I sincerely hope that his lead time will be better than from Cinemag. 😀

my lead times are better than Cinemag

:clown:

difference between HPC and LPC - dunno - maybe easier to determine with ear than with gear (even if I expect that Nickel would go coockoo earlier than Fe , when large signal is in case) , but what main difference is between HPC and LPC is - wider green while you sleep

I have LPC in my DEFiSIT ..... and - if it's good for Pa, it is good for me

I still didn't found my usual more complicated way to deal with xformers in Papamps, so it'll stay as is

in fact , I did found, but that's trivial - using active FE in place of autoformer

edit: if choice is - LPC now, or HPC in 2 months ............. there is no dilemma!

in 2 months, while waiting:
- you can make killer speakers
- you can read ton of books
-you can reach few K of km with bicycle
-all of above, together

life is good, while you're waiting on something, you can always find some immediate things for fun

:clown:

No problem on that score mighty ZM, life is indeed good, but the days seem to short....

I have a pair of Matteis TL speakers to refurbish (I bought the Jordan driver units and saved the cabinets, complete with concrete baffles, from being dumped)

Hmm, maybe I'll try to amend my order, I don't think the LPCs were available when I placed my order. Thanks.

well, all boxes almost ticked 🙂

speakers - yes, I like Jordans, but for this game I really prefer something with greater scale of authority ... which - for my taste , really starts from 12" Dia cones.... and then upwards

- rest - have no complains

🙂

I just recently got my CINEMAG transformers.

They came in quicker than they quoted - which is always appreciated. ABout two weeks ahead of the promised delivery.

I do not think they schedule production runs. I got the feeling items are made to order and everyone waits their turn in line though I do not doubt they would try to make as many of an item at a time as they could.

I was told the problem is getting people willing to work as the reason for the long delay. But months pass by so quickly at this point in our lives - not as if I could put them in my PCBs anyway since they have yet to arrive!

Extremely nice people to do business with.

🙂

The Jordans will be for a second system in the spare room - the drive units were a bargain and it seemed a shame to dump the cabinets as they really only need to be re-veneered and re-stuffed.

My target is Pass SLOBs for my main speakers.

......

Gremlins

There are multiple Gremlins in power ......... not only that packages sent a week or so after yours - are delivered, there is a sudden change in Tracking function ; for some time almost none of packages sent to US and Ca was visible; all delivered, but without trace in recipient Postal system

now suddenly, several packages delivered not just fast and furious, but also visible in Tracking procedure

OK, let's not panic yet .....

even if I'm panicking now .... done with all (recent amps) packages for Greedy Boyz , but somewhat uber-late with correspondence .......

😕

I only purchased the kit to get that strange newspaper with the funny looking words I don't understand...

Joking aside.. these kits are very well done, pcb and circuits are well thought out and high quality. Nothing was missing and the SMD installation was performed perfectly fine. I feel my amp could maybe use some more break in time, but the sound quality is very compelling. Still trying to get my arms around it, it's a different beast than my previous projects, and I mean that in a good way.

ZM,

That was meant in no way to suggest I am worried or anxious about my package from you.

Just was saying that CINEMAG will get parts to customers as quickly as they can.

I continue to wait patiently while collecting as many tips as I can before I begin assembly.

I was hoping to find some quality 300VA+ toroids @ 18Vx18V (USA 120VAC), but seems Antek's are sold out.

Still -- I'd imagine the SS can get by just fine with a single 250VA donut, right? So, I'd have plenty of headroom going with two donuts @ 250VA?

I'm looking at 2 of the Avel Lindberg 250VA 18x18V.

Parts Express? I bought a couple of those, tried one temporarily in M2 clone while waiting on replacement transformer. Worked great in that amp. In fact it sounded so well I reconfigured my "1/2 and 1/2 mono blocks" with Aleph J back to stereo.

This amp may need more ump? I don't know but you could make worse decisions, those transformers are nice.
