Undoubtedly! The U30 significantly outperforms the Amanero in terms of sound. You won't be disappointed.
But there is an opinion that the latest firmware for U30 sound worse. I have old firmware versions. If someone needs something - write in private.

Boards needs also the 3.3V coming from Amanero?

Mine setup is Amanero (clock slave)>Chronus>low pass filter>step-up

The boards need +5v power. There is a regulator on the board that drops the +5v down to +3.3v. Therefore it doesn't need any power from Amanero.

BTW has anyone listened to one of these boards yet? If so, any opinions on SQ? Obviously it might help to get Amanero off of USB power, and or to reclock the output of the FPGA. In the latter case it might help to run Amanero from external clocks located closer to the dac and better situated for reclocking. Anyone tried anything like that?

Tried Chronus. Better, less jittery sound from the clocks on I2SoverUSB.
