OK, we open the ordering in 1 week from now - on September 1.
Instructions will follow soon.
We have reserved 15 sets of jfets (2 pairs each) for GB participants.
I have also added the "Balanced Input board (XLR/RCA)" to the GB for those of you who may be interested in having the XLR input option. This is the pro-grade balanced receiver. XLR/RCA inputs can be switched electronically (i2c interface) or the "dumb" way - with mechanical switch mounted on the board.
Schematic is available on the "Building guides" page in DOWNLOADS area (you have to be logged in).
The GB price is $14.93
Cheers,
Valery

Hi Jeff, Valery,
Am I pushing my luck asking if we could buy the output inductors already made by you? I can make inductors, not a problem but I just hate doing so. I wouldn't mind paying for a set! 🙂

Maybe we should start specifying COTS high current inductors like Coilcraft SER series.
Coilcraft SER2900 Surface Mount Power Inductors
Typically $6 ea and handles huge currents.

I usually use AA battery - the 18ga magnet wire is a lot easier to bend than 16ga. For skinny coils I use a 1/4in drill bit. But agree they are a pain to make. I use a lighter flame to burn off the varnish on the ends and clean up with sand paper. But would gladly pay $6 for a part on Mouser and solder it in.🙂
Luckily, Class A amps don’t need this part. So I haven’t had to make one for a while ever since making Alpha amps.

It depends a lot on the hardness of the wire too. Belden wire is usually pretty stiff and terrible to work with. It's already pre-kinked coming off the roll! CNC Tech wire from Digikey is nicely annealed and forms beautifully.

Outputs may be better from the same manufacturing batches but with 1R emitter resistors it wouldn't likely make any difference.
Count me in if I'm not too late please!

GB ordering is OPEN
OK buddies, I'm opening ordering for the GB a little bit in advance - right now!
Please make your order via the web store at:
Virtual Zero Audio Store
The reason I'm asking to do it that way - our shipping process is pretty much automated with the tools in the store, plus you will be able to specify the address and choose the preferred delivery method for your convenience.
Please put the desired products to the shopping cart, adjust the quantity if required, and proceed to checkout.
All the GB products are visible at the top of the front page.
Please specify the discount code at the checkout: DIYAUDIO
It will drop 25% off the price of the boards, resulting in the prices, announced earlier. It will not affect the price of jFETs though.
Please let me know if you will have some questions / need assistance with the process.
I will duplicate this message in post #1.
Cheers,
Valery

Hello All,
One of the list members just had an issue with shipping options - at the checkout.
After a quick troubleshooting, the problem was solved. I made a stupid mistake with the boards' bundle weight (340 kg instead of 340 g).
In case somebody else had this problem - please clean the cart, refresh the page, add the products to the cart again - it will work properly now.
Sorry for possible inconvenience.
Cheers,
Valery

I see that using the discount coupon DIYAUDIO we get the 25% discount on the PCB board sets. But as per this thread and one of the posts you said that you will be giving the JFETs for $5. Your site does not take into consideration about this JFETs lowered price but still takes it at $9.99. So not sure when you said $5 is for a pair and this amp boards require 2 pairs. Please clarify.
Thanks

Hi Manniraj,
Jeff has mentioned the price in Post #26 as $5 for a complementary pair.
One set for a stereo amp contains 2 x pairs at a total of $9.90.
We don't discount them as this is close to the cost we've got them at.
Cheers,
Valery
