Hi ,

I have two scoop's loaded with 15 " driver's .. and i want to build another 2 bin's to put on top of them , i have two channel's .. one scoop at the base of the stack on each channel , some bin on top of the scoop and the treble unit .
The problem i don't know what to build .. i need somethink to match the scoop .. maybe some sub's .. i don't want to build more scoop's .. they are not impresing me very much ..

I want to power small / medium live application's so .. i guess i need somethink solid .. tell me you opinion .

THANKS ! Mihai .

Just like you need to model sealed or ported enclosures with a box modeling program, so you need to model the horn with a horn program
Input the parameters and choose the best horn u can fit.
Scoops etc are NOT optimal and produce wobbley freq response and only do midbass.

Give me t/s specs and il see if it models well. If u dont then i cant do anything

OK !
I will atach the Plan and the photo of the scoop .

The driver's are Dibeisi .. i get them for free .. i have in the garage over 30 Dibeisi drivers .. 15" but i don't know the parameters for them . I just put them in the scoops and .. it work pretty well ..

THANKS !

It's going to be very difficult to give an accurate answer without knowing some basic measurements of the drivers. If I were to venture a guess, I would say to try them in a standard bass reflex enclosure to more closely match the Vas. Those drivers may not be suitable for a horn. Do you see other applications of that same driver? In cars or pro sound systems maybe?

Hello darkm4n

To be honest, if you can get 50 Hz out of those two
Scoops, (Which is by the way enough for Live PA Applications) There is something wrong either with the cabinet design, or speaker choice.

So, tell me. What kind of speaker is that? It surely doesn't
look like a Professional PA Woofer.

What kind of power do you have available to feed these
Scoops?

Is that box made from Birch Plywood? It looks like Particle
Board.

What is the TS Parameters of these woofers?

Making Reflex box is easy, but, I think, no, I'm sure, these
Scoops can do the job.

Hmm ... I can get a nice 50 Hz out of those .
I guess the power is about 250 W each .. i don't really know .
The amplifier is made by me using : MJ11015 and MJ11015 with a TDA , bridge amplifier .

The scoop's are made from 18 mm thick MDF . Only the curve section is made out of PFL , there are 3 sheet's of PFL , it's very solid .

I want to build more low freq. cab's .. i think i don't have enoth ... only 2 scoop's ?? Nah ... Maybe some subs ? I don't know ...

Might I suggest you take the two Dibeisi 15's you are
currently, using, and, put them in back in the garage.

Let me tell you a little about Scoops, coming from a person
that owned them, used them, and, got rid of them. If you
don't have the right drivers in the box, it will never sound
good.

Scoops work best with TS Parameters as follows;

QTS = 0.2 - 0.3
BL Factor = 24 - 34 Tm
fs = 33 - 50Hz

Look for a 15 that offer these numbers, and, you will not
need to build new boxes.

If you are short on cash, sell whatever Dibeisi 15's needed
to make up the difference.

Companies that offer 15 inch drivers that will work

Precision Devices
Eighteen Sound
Fane (Which is by the way the design you built)
Celestion
Electrovice
JBL

Checkout their websites, and, find which one will give
you the closest, if not the same numbers I listed on
the top of the page.

Feeding two scoops with around 1600 watts (800 a
box) will shake the liquor bottles off the table, at
the Bar. (Reasonable size bar of course!)
