Hmm ... I can get a nice 50 Hz out of those .
I guess the power is about 250 W each .. i don't really know .

OMNIFEX
250!!???? Dude. you need power!

darkm4n
The amplifier is made by me using : MJ11015 and MJ11015 with a TDA , bridge amplifier .

OMNIFEX
Would you happen to have a web address available? I've
never heard of this brand.

darkm4n
The scoop's are made from 18 mm thick MDF . Only the curve section is made out of PFL , there are 3 sheet's of PFL , it's very solid .

OMNIFEX
Yeah. But, are they roadworthy? Can they stand up to
beer bottles? In other words, moisture? What about
the knocking around they will get going in, and, out the
venue(s)?

You should carpet them....

darkm4n
I want to build more low freq. cab's .. i think i don't have enoth ... only 2 scoop's ?? Nah ... Maybe some subs ? I don't know ...

OMNIFEX
Dude! You are using 250 watts, the wrong speakers in the
box, and, you want to build more?

You are better off correcting your error, buy the right speakers
for the job, and, get at least a 500 watt per channel @ 8 ohms
amplifier.

What you're planning to do will only bring more disappointment,
and, more bass bottoms to move.

Now they are carpeted , they can stand bear bottels 🙂)
And i didn't mention one thing .. i make them for home audio 🙂 for my 3x5 metter room 🙂)

I know i need more power .. and the homemade amplifier's are not the solution ..
What type of cab's are you useing now ?
Do you think scoops are a good idee ?

darkm4n
You're right .. maybe i can make some small reflex sub's from the Dibeisi 🙂

OMNIFEX
WHY??????

You still don't know anything about them, so, the only thing
that would be safe to build is a sealed enclosure. And, we
all know sealed enclosures are efficent ................NOT!

Just Sell them and, buy the right speakers for the Job.
You are doing PA jobs right? Thus, needing strong loud
bass right? And its evident, that these speakers are not
Pro PA Speakers Right? So.................. Sell Them!

darkm4n
And if i build another 2 scoop's .. to have 4 scoop's with good drivers i could get a good performance ..

OMNIFEX
Yep! That's the whole idea. Good Performance.

darkm4n
Why you get rid of your scoop ?

OMNIFEX
Because I like 40 - 20 hz bass more than 90 - 50Hz.
And, 12 Double 18's will play lower than 12 Eighteen
Inch Scoops.

Think with 4 x scoop's loaded with 800 w good driver's and some good HF cab's i can manage to keen a medium live application ?

Know some eminence driver's that fit in the scoops ?

What abut the LAB12 Horn ? ( eminence )

Do you have a schematic of that Double 18's ?

THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMNIFEX
More like 4 X Scoops with 3200 watts, for a medium
live application. Yeah!!!!!!

darkm4n

OMNIFEX
I've heard them, 4 to be exact, and, fed with
a two QSC 9.0's = 14,000 watts. Shall we say

😱 😱 😱 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can build them, they are best DIY bass
Sub for Pro Audio Today.

I have one better. www.linearteam.org Download

The LAB12's are purpose built speakers designed by Eminence to be built around. There weren't too many cab designs for them when they were indroduced, that's why there are so many forums on them. I don't think the LAB12's would work in a scoop config. They really want a speacail horn built for them utilizing 2 in a dual chambered design. Can't go wrong with ported double 18's 🙂

If you were to build some LabHorns, you wouldn't need any scoops. If you put them side by side, you wouldn't even know the scoops were there.😉 The LAbHorns are not easy to construct, but take a look at some of the plans, if you think you can handle it go for it! They really want to operate in a minumum of a pair per side. Alone they are good, but as you add more per side the freq response smooths out and you gain like 17dB from coupling! Also, if you've seen the plans, they're BIG. Do you have the storage space for them, and are the venues you play in large enough for them?

There was only one. 😉 The driver was designed specifically for the Labhorn at Tom Danley's (the designer) request. It's only been since its availability that other designs have been considered/built.

I disagree, they model quite well in a scoop (backhorn), especially if two are used. Four of them won't compete SPL wise with four Labhorns of course, but not everybody needs this much SPL down low and they're much easier to build. It's all a matter of designing for the app..

GM

Hmm, interesting. Both the labhorn and a scoop are well... horns, so I guess that they would work in a scoop cofig. The better scoops I've heard used 2- 12's so that's familiar, but wouldn't it be a mammoth horn to load the drivers correctly? I would think they would flop like a fish out of water in a regular scoop.

Why would you think this? What makes other 12" drivers work, but not the Labhorn driver? All drivers will 'flop like fish out of water' if driven below Fc in a backhorn.

GM

Gm- You are right my friend, it looks like it would do quite well in the correct scoop. Without running the numbers, I guessed that the long Xmax and large Vas for it's size would equate to a huge scoop, but it performs well in one of a modest size. Cool!
-Ricky

Man .. i think if i load the scoops with some good drivers ( 800 W )
they will do the work for medium indoor party's ..

Now .. i don't want to build the LAB Horn because it's very big and it's difficult to build .. anyway .. i can built it with no problem but .. i don't know where to store them .. 🙁

I saw in disco that they have some type of woofer's that are small ... and .. it shake you like hell ..

They are some type of horn's i guess .. they have the driver in the front and it's not pointing straight , a little to the ground .
I don't know what type of cab's are those but ... i know that it shake all the disco to death .. there are only 2 bass cab's .. so ..
I attach a photo with a design that i think it match the one in Twice Disco ( Romania ) . The one in twice do not have the HF driver's and i think it's a 15 inch or 18 inch one .
Have any idee where to find the plan of those cab's ??

THANKS !
