Ribbon tweeters are tricky in that way as they have an internal transformer (that’s the big heavy block on the back) that matches the impedance of the amp to that of the tweeter ribbon (very low in range of milli ohms). Hence, there is built in inductance which makes it tricky to simply guess what a XO might look like without a proper crossover simulator that accounts for that internal inductance. It can be done by measuring the frequency dependent impedance with a tool like DATS. The ZMA curve from this will account for that internal transformer.
Playing around with the 70-20XR here, thanks so much Donald (dbel84). They seemed a bit harsh at first but changing out the Kimber Silver Streak rca cables for Kimber Heros helped. I'm also running Mundorf Silver Oil caps and will try the Aluminum versions. I'm using the wago connects so I can swap things out while I'm experimenting.
