Sinclair Scientific ? That was RPN. I got one about 1974 via a school group buy, it came as a self assembly kit.My first "electronic" calculator was RPN.
.....
Now I forget how the RPN worked, it was way back in the early 1970s.
I had HP32s for years until I carried in my back pocket. I replaced it with a more modern
HP33S. Still have it.
HP33S. Still have it.
@npn -- I use an EMU-0204, and no, it won't handle more than 1VRMS in -- won't even quite handle that for lowest distortion. But it is relatively easy to outboard level switching or just use a potentiometer.
3*2+5*5 = 26.
Did not have to use brackets because the calculator software assumes that certain operators are to be used in a defined order. If the defined order is not what one requires one gets the wrong answer.
RPN was different and easier in that one did not need to remember the "defined order assumption"
That is 31 🙂

And then you need (3 * 2 + 5 ) * 5 to get 55

RPN: 3 2 * 5 + 5 * 🙂

at least for the HP types. Don't get lost in the equal signs.
Funny thing, one of my profs was the State Champion with
Slide Rule, then they became obsolete....I don't think he
ever recovered from that.
The Slide rule took us to the moon and back,
what a tool. : )

we used books w tables of logarithms and trig functions. I used the same my dad had when he studied metallurgy at Case Institute in 1941.

I can use a regular calculator any more. Get strange results trying to enter everything in RPN.
My fingers do the walking.

We apparently went to different schools together. I also have the CRC "Standard Math Tables", though the frequency I refer to it has declined from a few times per week (circa mid 70's) to once a year or so.we used books w tables of logarithms and trig functions. But in High School and undergrad years I carried an earlier, 25 year old version of that publication because it was the size of a paperback book, so it fit nicely into my pants pocket. And . . . my copy had been used by MY dad, when he took a couple of mechanical engineering courses at Case, circa 1947. I still have the book, or at least its remains, since the binding has disintegrated.
(My dad never finished that degree. I suspect my mom had something to do with that - like my own experience, a new wife tends to distract your attention and energy from academic pursuits.)

Gentlemen,
Re: HP339 PS. All points well heeded. Obvious that HP optimized this analyzer as has been described and as typical it just works and keeps on working. Unless someone does something to make it not work.
More to do and learn.
Oh yeah, I haven't thought about the CRCs in years.
Cheers

Does anyone know if the QA400 software and hardware will be compatible with the upcoming Windows 10 update?
Not sure if it's been discussed but while inquiring about the QA405, Quant Asylum said they were looking to update the software to include a display of the distortion residual. When I asked if this software update would apply to the QA400, they said yes. They're still not sure if they'll provide a separate jack on the QA405 for the distortion residual. I know the following link has already been provided but I'm pasting here too for those who want to jump to the QA405 page.

I received an update regarding the next software release. Quant Asylum will be adding a visualizer interface. The updates may be released later this week.
