- Picture above(girl in Italy. that girl's on her honeymoon.🙂 ) was 100" at 10'. That projector can focuses between 6.5'~16' distance from the wall.
They sold 50 sets at that time. ( I think that was thier 3rd group purchase). Unfortunately, It was only available in their forum.
I don't know if international shipping is possible.

- LCD spec is just the above description.
and I asked our members in that forum about this, and got this answer.

LCD is AU (http://www.auo.com/e_main_contactus.shtml -I think this is Tiwan company)
ADC board is... ADC : MODEL=FX600, MAKER = Fellcom (www.fellcom.com), Contact = Mr. Cho JH in this site, there are some compatible LCD and controller lists

This is all I got now.:cannotbe: But I think it's somehow hard to get this individually. Not sure.

Film : JoyRide

This is my result with an ASK Impact 21, and an old 3M Projector (400W 36V Halogen bulb).
Sorry picture is a little to bright, my digitalcamera isn't good for night photos. I've at the moment problems with a hotspot but i think that i can fix with a condensor optical lens.

Picture diagonally is about 1.70m (~ 80" ?)

nView Spectra, 4000 Lumen Elmo OHP. FXL-5 bulbs. I'm using an old PC(800mhz Socket A AMD, 8x DVD, 16meg Video, 96megs ram, 6 gig HDD) as a media PC. Plays DVD, DivX, Xvid, SVCD, VCD great. Here's some shots I took, it's a lot brighter really(old digital camera). This is projecting onto an off-white sheet.

Stereos. Front 4 are hooked up to bottom(240w rms), Rear 2 hooked to top(50w rms), and the sub is hooked to a car amp on the floor(200w rms). Two Fronts are 15", all the rest are 8" and the sub is 10". And yes, the speakers can handle all that power.

OHP, PRojection Panel. Fan is to keep it cool(It helps a bit when it's really hot).

My first results, CMV1515

Hey everybody, got my projector running. CMV1515, MH400U ($16), Standard ballast ($35 and it's quiet, can't hear it at all). I got my optics from China, custom dual fresnels, short focal length on back fres, and a lens triplet from China as well. I'll be switching to a slightly different form factor on my bulb, the MH 400W/HBD/T15 (link), as my current setup puts the bulb center about an inch off center. Even so, with no reflector fitted and a malaligned bulb, I can watch with rooms lights on with excellent brightness on the screen.

(One adult screen shot, don't click if you're bothered by such things..)

Brainchild, I noticed the link you provided for the new bulb only sales the bulbs in a case of 12. Are you going to purchase that many? If so would you be willing to sell a couple. I’m going to use a very similar setup as you, and I think the smaller form factor of the bulb will help my setup greatly.

thinking about it..

A better choice may be this bulb.

They can be bought individually here.

Althought the literature says they need to run on a mercury vapor ballast, they will run on a standard 400w metal halide ballast. I can personally attest to that.

Nice lamp, however it is nearly 2 inches longer (MOL = 11.6") than the MH 400W/HBD/T15, which has a MOL of 9.75" and a Light Center Length of 5.75". The MT400DL/BH's Light Center Length is 7.2", which is on par with the big ol' MH400U. In my case design I have the lamp mounted on the diagonal in order to minimize the enclosure size as much as possible. The diagonal measurement of my case is 17". By using the MH 400W/HBD/T15 my light center will be nearly exactly centered. (The mogul base adds nearly 2" to the overall length of the bulb.) The MT400DL/BH has a better color temp but is bigger, has less lumens and is $20 more.

brainchild..

I'm sorry for posting OT in this thread, but where did you get your optics from? You said china.. but is it feasible that any of us could go about getting this stuff? If your projector really is viewable with regular lights on, I'm really interested in the types of the optics you used..

WHat kind of focal lengths etc.. because I dont think anyone else's DIY has really been useable with lights on.

Lights On?

Sadd3j:
I would take that with a grain of salt.....This is a totally subjective decision. What's "watchable with lights on" for one person looks like washed out crap to the next! Any projector, commercial or DIY, looks 100% better in a DARK room. Besides, movies are meant to be viewed in the dark! Casual or Daytime viewing is much better handled with a RPTV or CRT. Even my new X1 (bright as hell) needs a dark room to really shine.

sadd3j...

A grain of salt indeed...although I'm not exaggerating when I say can watch my projector with the lights on. Usually when we watch I dim the lights but leave enough on to see drinks etc. Also if your room lights simply point away from your screen, or your screen is located in a niche area, lights on viewing will be much better. The optics I'm using are actually manufacturer's samples...sorry but they don't sell to individuals in small quantities.

X1 DLP Screenshot

Thought you guys might want a shot of what you aspire to. This is with the X1 DLP projector (SVGA MMD) right out of the box, I know the colors need tweaking. Image size is approx 110" diagonal.
