Hello,
Please have a look on this topics:
????????? ?? ??-50 - Flyback.org.ru
Full range plasma speaker seems very difficultés to build. Perhaps with a lot of electric arcs.
But russian people can build strong units.
I have a question with starter. Do you need à screwdriver ?Or the system can do himself ?
Regards

Im not equipped to the calculations, but I dont think its possible. In theory it works out, but the power requirements must be astronomical. An arc that big would require more than a few amps.
Im thinking it gonna get hot with two high power arc furnaces in the living room 😀
No arc as such is required, i will check the info i have found on this tomorrow. An ionic wind generator can be modified. Start looking at Townsed Brown, it is very interesting.
Please check this link:
GB2312590A - Corona discharge loudspeaker
- Google Patents
On page 6 are the requirements listed.
If the speaker is arranged as a "triode" then not much current is needed to drive it.
Tubes can easily provide the needed signal voltages of 1KV p/p.
An other interesting patent is this one:
US20090022340A1 - Method of Acoustic Wave Generation
- Google Patents
My idea is to create a speaker using a mix of these 2 technologies.

Hello Lampie 519, great idea.
I can't all understand due my poor english and electronic level.
But for the wire you can use Kanthal. The oxyd protect the metal himself. It's used for foam cutter, and it isn't expensive.
For high voltage a greinhacher série work. But why not a tesla coil ?
Regards

A tesla coil is used to transform RF (AC) but we need a DC voltage here. Yes, Kanthal is cheap. Not sure if it can be used in this application but worth the try. I will not use a Greinacher doubler. Please see the other patent for this.
Be very careful as Ozone generated from these ("cold") corona discharges can kill or cause permanent lung injury! Not kidding here.
Hello ,
Ok for ozon, nitric acid, high frequency current radio waves and high voltage ? But if is it so dangerous, why Magnat and others are selling tweeters ?
Regards

Magnat has stopped selling these speakers long ago because of this. Others use horn loaded tweeters with ceramic meterials that will react with the ozon making them safe to use.
BTW i have found an old picture of my system in 1987 with the Ionofanes on top of the Model 70 hybrids.

Let us hope that manufacturers have test equipment to detect when their R&D becomes dangerous to the engineers.Ok for ozon, nitric acid, high frequency current radio waves and high voltage ? But if is it so dangerous, why Magnat and others are selling tweeters ?
B.
I want to use screen modulation for my 807 RF tube. 250v @ 7ma is requiered.
Two solutions :
Two tubes stages amplifier or transformer.
What is the best to use?
If i chose tubes what are the maximum and minimum values for the signal. Is a 100v gap correct ?(from 300v to 200v or 250v to 150v).
If i chose a transformer,how i chose it ?
Regards

I would use no transformer but if you do then choose a toroid or c core transformer 230v to 15v or so (in reverse). Choose higher anode voltage otherwise the audio signal will stop the oscillation at high gain. I found my old diy plasma’s and made some pictures.

Hello, Lampie 519.
Many thanks for your reply and pictures.
Nice job.
What voltage should i use for anode tube modulation, please?
I use a Latour voltage doubler :Two voltages (with load) are allowed: 510v or 250v.
I don't believe in schematics who is it written 600v and 300v.
What is a good ratio between amplitude and voltage ?
Regards

I used 310v on the anodes and about 60 to 80v on the screen, depending on the current i liked to draw (flame size). Naturally that depends on the tube you will be using. My favorite is the EL/PL519 (Lampie519).
If you choose a higher anode voltage then you will need to reduce the screen voltage. If the anode gets too hot (red glow) you will need to replace the tubes more frequently. Try to prevent this. Tubes are forgiving when it happens not too often. If oscillator does not start you also will draw to much current. I use a regulated PSU when experimenting. Then i can see exactly what current is drawn. Plus i can adjust the voltage and see what happens before blowing up stuff.
Try to get one of those power supplies:
