Pictures of your diy Pass amplifier

It'll hold up fine to normal use. The weakest point is probably the set-screw collar to the base plate, but that's adhered with a good fillet of JB Weld, and I think the volume pot will probably break before that does if you really crank on the knob. Also, the magnets are glued into holes in the base plate, which provides more strength.

Since I'm not electronics wizard, I leave figuring that all out to others and concentrate my efforts on unique fabrications. A few of my past builds, if you're interested:

I have these pics in other threads, but they should probably be here, too.

Here's a small chassis F6.

If you can't tell, I really like the new power supply boards lol

Here are my Holy Grail Follower mono blocks with external power supply (in the middle). They are biased to about 2amps, +-30v and use IXYS hockey pucks. They sound great and the heatsinks with a silent fan only get warm (I used @N Brock’s Redux concept/idea for the heatsink and fan). Totally silent with my ear to the tweeter with a balanced input. This is a great setup for when I am away from home working.

Minor experimentation turned into an amp-swapping extravaganza this evening. :clown:

It started with seeing what a multi-parallel LatFet PA amp sounded like with my Manzanitas. Not bad, actually. Gobs of power. Sounded great, truthfully. Then I decided to see what swapping out would do. So, all told, here are the amps I’ve been trading with:
  • Ashly CFT-1800
  • TDV
  • F5 (K1530/J201)
  • Modulus-86
This is fun! The source is an old unused Samsung phone getting Wi-Fi material from my LMS server. I was also using my WBA2018 pre, but I need to fix a bit of mains hum with it, so I went direct out of the phone. Currently running the Mod86.

I like all these amps. :clown: Gotta pull out my favorite class D builds to try, too.

What does any of this prove? Nothing! I merely like building amps and playing with them.

Happy weekend, all!

Another Zen headphone (Pellerano/tortello's) amp being born here!
Amp boards from TheSlowDiyer.
I have another Zen Head, but this version one is to be powered by a laptop brick.

The small pcbs at the back are Mark Jonhson SMPS filter, then the power on mute circuit cobbled together using ne555 (rely on the small pcb together with the headphone socket).
The pcb with the pot hosts the cross feed circuit (I do not make a headphone amp without these days).

I was going to finish it today ie sort out the cables and solder the power socket to the laptop brick but I got sucked into a prolonged listening session with the assembled amps running on a lab power supply.

I have another version of this amp (with a linear PS), Whammy, EUVLs Super Linear and UTiHAM (Patrick's amps were not easy to build). The assembly of this one is easy and therapeutic. I can spend hours with this one. This little ZEN is soooo musical!!!

F6 box must be MUCH larger?
BTW the above amp is also for a friend. But I think I'll build one for myself too to replace my shabby build of my first head amp ever. Initially the idea of building for a friend was to build something without cluttering the house.
