BA-3 more aluminum and cable wilderness

It is saturday and I worked on that little BA-3 -beast today.
I was making some alu-brackets for the BA-3FE and for the bias-boards.
Now starts the cable-jungle.....

BA-3 coming together

Some more progress on my BA-3.
The rails under load are at 34.9 Volts. The Toshiba JFETs are running hot
(at 51.4 C). The Mosfets on the outputboards are still pretty cool....(45.4 C at 300mV at the source resistor)

Offset at speaker outputs superlow (0.1 mV).
Seems to become good.
It's a burning amplifier :redhot:

Greetings from a burning german with hot fingers (exercising in Nelsons heat touch test)

Dirk

BA-3 questions of MASSIMO

Hello MASSIMO,

I used aluminum-profiles in 40mm x 40mm from the german distributor
'blank-profiltechnik'. They have cut the pieces to length. This gave me
a rock-solid frame for the amp. You can cover it with all materials you like.
And it is easy to disassemble the amp for repairs (which will hopefully not
happen!).
The back is a Plexiglass which is coloured through in black. I was also
thinking about Plexiglas / Acrylglas in dark translucent grey. I will use this
for the front combined with aluminum. I am thinking about a cutout in the middleof the aluminum front and behind - as second layer- the acryl. Perhaps with a BA-3 - logo?
If the amp is off, the dark grey plexiglas will be dark, if you switch on and
the blue LEDs are shining, you can look inside. This could be a good effect? Perhaps too much?
That I am seen in one of the photos was more an 'accident'.

Have a good day!
Enjoy the music!
Dirk

Nice work! There might be some value in strapping those jFets together with some heat shrink along with some thermal paste and a small piece of copper (diy heat sink) that sticks up and allows them to dissipate some heat...

Here is an example of something similar that I did on my a40 build for individual small signal to-92 devices. It's a thin copper strip held in place with some JB-Weld. It's a really small picture, but you get the idea.

BA-3 playing first music

BA-3 is playing wonderful music!
Thanks Nelson Pass!
Thanks to the forum and all the helpful members!

to MASSIMO:
the aluminum-profiles also carry heat away- they get warm.
Acryl-back: the only thing I was thinking about is shielding against RFI
