Early Friday morning I got this idea to use a diecast alu box that was left over from my stompbox building era as a tube amp chassis.
The largest one I had was just big enough to fit two old James OPTs and three octal sockets, so I went for a pair of PL36 (25V heater version of 6CM5) and a 6SN7 shared between the channels. As I already had an external PSU with suitable voltages built for my PL36 PP amp (and a spare chassis connector) the whole project went from idea to finished in less than three days.

6 days and 22 hours after finishing the amp in the post above, here's a new one:
PL81 PP triode with PC900 input tubes and an 0D3 voltage regulator form the input stage (I felt the need for some UV light after weeks without sunshine...)
The phase splitting is done with cheap Edcor XSM transformers and it runs on the same external PSU as both my PL36 amps.

Jag skickar upp ett par banankartonger med mina påbörjade projekt - alla komponenter finns men de behöver bara byggas klart, men det kan du hjälpa mig med ...
I am sending up a couple of banana boxes with my started projects - all the components are there but they just need to be finished building, but you can help me with that...

I have the builders in at the moment, and you remind me of them. They manage to do in 1 week what I take 6 months to do ;-/6 days and 22 hours after finishing the amp in the post above, here's a new one:

How does it sound?
OldHector: Sometimes I just get a bit "speeded"...
I'm listening to it with proper speakers for the first time right now, a bit delayed by a thunderstorm.
Not bad actually, considering the ridiculously cheap iron and the fact that the tubes were chosen by looks rather than electrical parameters.
Nothing particularly wrong with PL81 but the PC900 is not a good choice when you need to swing +-40V.

Awesome shapes and structures with those tubes! Still need a "hero" knife switch to complete the look...
Are those batteries showing in post 11,332, in the lower photo panel?

I use something like that on my preamp. 1 is the CD, 2 is the FM, 3 is the TT, and 4 is Streamer.
